Back at work now and going through the September border data that CBP finally released last week.

Anyone else catch that the issue with double-counting MPP respondents as first-time "inadmissibles" seems to have only occurred at El Paso? Other sectors seem unaffected.
El Paso Sector's August inadmissibles data, as first reported in September.

Family units: 2,516
UACs: 106
Single Adults: 1,728
Cubans (out of the above): 944

Here's the data now, after correction:

Family units: 2,002
UACs: 104
Single Adults: 945
Cubans (out of the above): 341
The MPP/Inadmissible double-counting problem in El Paso extends back months, not just in August.

Original July numbers:
Family units: 1,156
UACs: 38
Single Adults: 1,025

Corrected numbers:
Family units: 1,078
UACs: 38
Single Adults: 883

Minor corrections exist in June, too.
Deleted a couple of tweets about June being corrected in San Diego because I realized my June data was off in the spreadsheet where I keep this data. Data entry error on my part, whoops.

The problem does appear to have been restricted to El Paso.

Finally looking back at DHS's absurd MPP propaganda fact sheet from last week, and noted this table. I don't think some of this historical data has ever been published anywhere else, has it?

Similarly, this table appears totally new to me. An earlier version of this for 2014 was released in August 2018, but this "enforcement lifecycle" data hasn't been published anywhere else, to my knowledge.

So, just flagging this for people.
cc: other immigration data people like @SarahPierceEsq, @David_J_Bier, @Sleutert, @adam_wola, @J_Gelatt. Apologies if you've all seen these tables already. The enforcement lifecycle data is just really interesting.

People have wondered what the interview process to get out of Remain in Mexico/MPP is like for people who express a fear of returning to Mexico.

Declarations just filed in @sdACLU's new lawsuit against MPP contain disturbing details on how these interviews are a farce.

The plaintiffs are a mom and dad from Guatemala. After the dad refused to pay gang members who were trying to extort him, their 17-year-old daughter was kidnapped and raped on her way home from school by men who said it was her dad's fault for not paying.
Weeks after this horrific incident, the family decides to flee Guatemala.Their only thought was surviving and protecting their children.

As the mom said, "If this were not about keeping [my children] alive and safe, we would never have left our country... our home."

Today in Barton v. Barr #SCOTUS struggled with two competing theories on Congressional purpose.

At oral arguments, this seemed to play out thematically in two arguments: "Congress wanted to be precise," vs. "Congress wanted to be harsh."

I want to offer a third possible theme.
So—when Congress eliminated 212(c) relief in 1996, one reason for doing so was to end a circuit split which allowed some people to become eligible for relief during exclusion/deportation proceedings.

In fact, this fix was the main explanation provided in the legislative history.
Of course, when 212(c) was replaced with cancellation of removal, there were other changes; Congress made it harder to win, for one thing. But I think that fix (which I'll expand on in a second), was a key motivator for the stop time rule; which I believe supports the petitioner.

These promotions which sends a very clear message to the field are the next step in AG efforts to eliminate any semblance of due process in immigration court adjudications & will have far reaching effects. Here are the major changes from the interim proposed regs of this morning
Buried in a morass of internal reshuffling of component & deputy of components that lift the veil of the immigration bureaucracy are some changes that are not benign.
First-- soon BIA members will be sporting the title of 'appellate immigration judges' Woo-hoo!

So my friend @ronaldnzimora gave me a suggestion to run Facebook ads a certain way for my business last week and I set out to do just that, this was not my first time running ads and after battling with it for the past week!! I’m making this thread to help others......
I call it 9 THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE STARTING ADS ON FACEBOOK.
#1 DON’T USE YOUR PERSONAL AD ACCOUNT. If you’ve ran ads before you know every Facebook account has an ad account attached to it immediately which you can use to run ads, I actually advice not to use it cause Facebook has this annoying habit of blocking people’s Ad account.....
