Okay, seriously. When someone has said, REPEATEDLY, "My medical care is being handled by professionals, I do not want or need unsolicited advice," and followed it up with "you are not helping me by encouraging me to be non-compliant with my doctor's instructions"...
...what is the benefit of continuing to issue vague, non-specific, non-personalized "oooo but some people are frauds, some nutritionists are bad" warnings? Is giving me a panic attack right before I do something I actively do not want to do the goal here, or what?
Here's a fun thing I don't talk about much, although you can see it around the edges: I have a terrible relationship with food. I've been struggling with disordered eating and various eating disorders (not the same thing) since high school.
You know who doesn't get listened to when she says she's bulimic and would like help learning how NOT to vomit every time she eats? The fat girl.
You know who doesn't get listened to when she says she doesn't eat when she's alone? The fat girl. You know who learns not to eat in front of people, because they'll mock her? The fat girl. You know who stops eating for YEARS? Good guess.
I am not overweight because I live on cookies and cake. I am overweight because I DON'T EAT, and my body is in a constant state of "OH SHIT OH FUCK THE MAMMOTH IS GONE WE'RE GONNA DIE BETTER KEEP EVERY CALORIE WE SEE."
When I talk about food, I talk about food like I'm a cartoon. This is because I hate it when people say "ew" about my dietary choices, or assume I must be lying, since no one who weighs as much as I do could possibly eat that much salad.
My food insecurity often manifests itself in limiting what I consume, since if I eat it, I won't have it anymore, and maybe this is the time there's no more food after this food is gone. Poverty leaves deep, deep scars. So does society.
I am doing Weight Watchers, not to lose weight, not to reduce how much I eat, but because a system of accountability is literally the only way to make me eat enough on a daily basis.
(If you've seen me eat at conventions, this may all sound fake. That's because restaurants don't trigger my "limit the food you eat," when I don't have a way to save leftovers for later. So I clean my plate. I eat about 3x as much at cons as I do at home.)
So freaking me out about the person who's being paid to help me improve my relationship with food is not only counterproductive, it's cruel, and I'd like y'all to stop, please. Please.

Thank you.
