All the candidates being caught out by outrageous social media comments and having to bow out of the election are embarrassing to their parties... But it will be much more embarrassing after 14 November when the candidate lists are locked and they can't withdraw any more.
So it's worth redoubling the effort to uncover this sort of thing once it's too late for them to be subbed out. That albatross can then be hung around their neck and that of their party for the remaining 4 weeks of the campaign.
It would not surprise me if the campaigns are sitting quietly on some of the more egregious examples, hoping and praying the media won't unearth them until after the 14 November deadline. They can then unleash the dirt to maximum effect.
