Why do this? Thread 👇
Blockchains are a new computing platform that innovate on the dimension of trust.

Trusted computation creates green-field for new applications that depend on it, including digital money, contracts, organizations and many more to be discovered and built.
Like all new platforms, there are early challenges to adoption: interfaces aren’t immediately user friendly, best practices are poorly understood, and there are wide misconceptions about the technology itself and its capabilities.
Yet many generational opportunities in tech were realized by entrepreneurs that pioneered or applied emergent best practices to push mainstream adoption amidst new platform shifts.
Meaningful progress on infrastructure, tooling, regulatory clarity, and user traction make the present a pivotal time to have an outsized impact in what is still the early innings of crypto adoption.
Many folks at @a16z have been in crypto for close to 7 years now—CSS is an opportunity to share the best practices we’ve learned from building and working with founders in the space, and to help accelerate understanding, development, and encourage more talented people to join in
The program is free of charge for participants and @a16z is not taking equity. It will run in person in Menlo Park, CA, starting in Feb 2020 and will be available online afterwards.
CSS is meant to supplement the many other startup-building resources that are available today with specialized material on what is new and different about building in crypto.
If you have experience building software products and are excited about diving into crypto, please apply here: a16z.com/cryptostartups…

Applications are open until December 6th.
And if you’re interested in getting started with the basics, check out some key terminology just published in the @a16z Crypto Glossary by @apruden08 and @smc90: a16z.com/cryptoglossary
A final curriculum with instructors and speakers will be announced soon!
