This thread is harsh, but true.

Warren and Sanders' social programs are 100% possible. But their promise to fund it all by soaking corporations and the ultra-wealthy isn't. Countries that have programs like theirs have to tax the middle class to do it.
And for the record, we absolutely should tax the rich more. More brackets, higher estate tax and AMT, corporate tax deferral and step up in basis should be restricted, and we should enact a tax on stock buybacks and LBOs.

But none of that will fund Medicare for All.
I think you can argue — and I frequently have — that Warren and Sanders' tax plans aren't just about raising revenue, but about redistributing financial and political power so no one person can control whole industries. That's fair. And I think that's a reasonable goal. BUT...
...that goal has to be balanced with ensuring critical sectors of our economy can still grow and create jobs.

I think many of Warren's ideas for reform, like codetermination and regulations on private equity, are good. Others, like her wealth tax, I don't think are fleshed out.
