When people no longer believe they can compete or “win” within the context of a specific “game”, they either choose to stop playing…..or in extreme cases, may even "up-end the game board" and scatter playing pieces everywhere. This is what the GOP is doing to democracy. 1/
This Atlantic article examines the Republican Party’s response to its post-2012 election loss autopsy. I’ve previously touched on the GOP’s reaction to the autopsy in the context of election interference: 2/
Considering that Latinos often tend to be conservative, family-oriented, people of faith.....this should have been an easy sell for a political party that claims (even if fraudulently) to embody “conservative/family/Christian values”....5/
However, rather than promoting/selling “ideas” & values to Latinos, the Republican Party wrapped its arms around a Sociopathic Narcissist who, with the exception of a eating taco salads, has taken every opportunity to alienate a much needed constituency. 6/
George W. Bush wasn’t an extremely insightful man, but he was aware that it was crucial that the GOP recruit Latinos. He apparently also knew that the Republican Party was incapable of evolving when he made the statement that he might be "the last Republican president". 7/
Apparently the GOP knew/feared this, also…so they embraced a demagogue, sold their souls to the NRA (and perhaps Russia), and allowed a process of stealing Merrick Garland’s SCOTUS seat, to evolve into “Smash-n-Grab” admission politics (Tax Cut)…8/
….before finally morphing into “game board up-ending” behavior that threatens to destroy the rule of law, the constitution, and the public’s faith/confidence: Pathological subversion of the Mueller investigation & the impeachment process, & refusing to protect U.S. elections. 9/
When supporting and defending the behavior of a pathologically disordered leader becomes the top priority, the "defense" (behavior) of the subordinates will invariably become pathologically disordered. This is the essence of “Trickle Down Pathology: 10/
To be clear, Donald Trump is not the cause, he is both a symptom, and, similar to gasoline found at the scene of arson…….he is an “accelerant”…..11/
But, that being said, Donald Trump is a Sociopathic parasite that has infected 40% of the country.….12/
As a result the Republican Party has embraced Trump’s pathologically disordered, warped perception of winning and losing: 13/
Which has resulted in the Republican Party not only running the risk of self-imploding….. 15/
….But it has resulted in the Republican party seemingly being intent upon taking/tearing/burning the rest of the country down with them….. 17/
