1/OK it's time for a thread called "Blackpilling the Groypers".

(For those who have lives off of the internet, "groypers" are dorky internet Nazis and "blackpilling" means filling people with despair to the point of helplessness)
2/The groypers hoped that Trump would halt immigration in order to keep America's populace as white as possible.

But here is a picture of the number of lawful permanent residencies granted during Trump's first year.

Immigration is still going strong.

3/Meanwhile, public opinion is swinging against Trump and the groypers.

48% of REPUBLICANS think it's important to find a way for undocumented immigrants to stay here legally, and 58% of REPUBLICANS support taking in more refugees.

4/This isn't a fluke of one poll. All the polls show support for immigration RISING during the era of Trump.

5/Groypers hoped Trump would overhaul the legal immigration system. Stephen Miller and Tom Cotton wanted to.

But even with Republican majorities they couldn't get it done. And support for cutting legal immigration is down down down, including among Republicans.

7/For all the talk about ICE, Trump hasn't even managed to deport people at the rate Obama did.

9/And even if Trump somehow halted immigration tomorrow (which he definitely will not), America's youth is now majority-minority.

Those folks are all citizens.

Yes, free tuition is a giveaway to the upper middle class. But the real reason I don't like it is that I think there's almost no chance that it'll actually be matched 1-for-1 by public spending increases. Thus it'll starve universities of resources, which would be quite bad.
Defenders of free tuition - i.e. basically everyone I know - just sort of take an "assume a can opener" approach toward public funding and ignore the evidence of the last few decades, assuming all reluctance to spend will be swept away in a great wave of socialist confetti...
The reality is that our universities are practically the one functional institution we have left, and they're the most liberal institution we have, and they're built on the tuition dollars of the upper middle class. So we monkey with that at our peril.

Time for a #thread about why I never ate meat.
My mum is a staunch #Hindu woman with strong principles, upstanding morals, and very much attached to traditional values. For fucks sake, she will not eat in a restaurant that serves eggs, let alone meat.
In her spare time, she is the official family travel agent for guilt trips.
My dad is a laid back coasterian whose views are drastically liberal compared to mum. As they say opposites attract and he is exactly that of my mum. He drinks alcohol, and his view on non-vegetarian food is simple; the only thing with 4 legs he will not eat are table and chairs.

Joshua was very much a rainbow baby 🌈 and we were so excited and over the moon when I finally made it into the second trimester. (Alex and I are both big rugby fans!)
I was working as a 1st year Registrar in A&E when I suddenly broke my waters at 24 weeks. I was transferred to Southampton @UHSFT who have a specialist level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were wonderful, and did everything they could to stop my labour over Father’s Day.
