Some uncomfortable questions -

Why did the Jagat Seth bankers stand by Aliverdi Khan in the 1740s instead of shifting their allegiance to Raghoji Bhonsale?

Why was Bhosale more interested in raiding than in conquest?

(Contd..)
Did the Seth bankers not see Bhosale's Hindu religion as more proximate to their own Jain faith than Aliverdi's Shia Islam?

If not, does that speak poorly of Raghoji Bhosle and his clansmen? Who failed to build networks and goodwill in Bengal, but instead focused on raiding
The same Seth bankers had no problems supporting the beef eating Company officials against Siraj-ud-daulah

But they stood by Aliverdi against the Maratha raiders. At least to the best of my knowledge

Somehow I feel the Marathas don't come out well in this whole episode
The 1740s was probably our last best chance post Mughal decline

Delhi was weak after Nadir Shah's raids. There was chaos in Bengal with the decline of Quli Khan's dynasty

A concerted Maratha effort could've brought Bengal in H-hands? This is a question

But we stopped at raids
