I asked Leo Varadkar if he'd had time to digest the Labour Party Manifesto bits on the Withdrawal Agreement. Here's his response: "Whoever is in government in the UK in a few weeks time, whoever is prime minister, we will be happy to sit down with them, listen to what they say...
"and work with them, and in a hypothetical scenario if a UK government wants to talk about a customs union, with the EU, or closer alignment with the single market, that’s something we’ve always been open to, something we’d be very happy to talk to the UK government about.
"Let’s see how the election goes. What I think we can be assured of is, we can say to the people of Ireland, there won’t be a hard border between north and south, and the Common Travel Area, and everything that goes with it will be protected.
"The only outcome which would be problematic would be another hung parliament, in which case we may be back in a situation where we have a House of Commons which wouldn’t be able to ratify any agreement."
