Somehow I'd never considered using SLI antialiasing with older games on new(ish) hardware, so you can use the 2nd card for extra image quality instead of performance.

Here's Midtown Madness 2 running on my Windows XP build with dual 8800GTS cards. 1600x1200, 16xAF, and SLI 8xAA!
And this rig is more than quick enough to still run at 100+ FPS, so on a 100Hz CRT it looks incredible combined with the other improvements.

Feels like a fresh new game now, this was unthinkable to me back then.

Y'know that enjoyably retro Ingles sign that I show in my camera reviews?

It's just as enjoyably retro inside.
I hope it never changes. I know it will, buuuut I hope it doesn't. It's weirdly comfortable.
There's also something about how the ceiling is angled and the way the fluorescent lights are laid out that does it for me.

Sorry for an accomplished legal mind & poet, the one that styles himself as the Great Oracle.
Back in 2015 when I came on Twitter Mr Abdul Mahmoud was one of the compasses I used to navigate my way in these streets.

Then, he was still using his old handle which was probably suspended because, well this is twitter.

When he created @AbdulMahmud01, it was a joyous welcome.

Arg. I'm trying to get this board working and it's not responding. I swapped the RAM and checked everything I can but it spins up the fan when you hit the ATX power pins, but the VGA never works.
and this is exactly the sort of place where I'd love to use a post card to see why it's not booting but the only one I have is ISA/PCI.
This is PCI-E!
and no beeps, either. weird.

Since the CU option lost #indicativevotes by the smallest margin, a short one on customs unions and borders including the NI border /1
CUs don’t remove the need for customs formalities. They can facilitate and streamline but not necessarily. This is normal as in order to use preferential tariffs under an FTA or CU you normally need to jump through more hoops than when paying full rates. /2
You need to show you’re eligible for these “discounts”. Under CU you need to demonstrate that the goods have either been produced/manufactured in the CU or have been customs cleared (duty paid) /3

But first an intro to what open science is...
I am sure you all know a bit about #openscience already but essentially it's a very broad community/movement that aims to make science more accessible, transparent, inclusive, etc.

@daniellecrobins and @rchampieux have this great umbrella infographic!

#Openscience boils down to making science more free and open in the same general ways that the related open source and free software movements/communities pushed for change by making the outputs of science more accessible to both the general public and to other scientists.

fun fact: 3dfx had SLI for using multiple cards at once, and NVIDIA has SLI for the same use, and NVIDIA bought the technology of 3DFX, right?

But it's a DIFFERENT SLI! it works in a completely different way.
it doesn't even stand for the same thing.
For 3dfx, SLI was "Scan-Line Interleave". The way it worked is that each card rendered at half-height and the two pictures were mixed together, using alternate lines.
