When Halper attributed his lies about @GenFlynn and Trump to his sources, they became intelligence without verification: “the FBI did not maintain validation reports for sub-sources, individuals “who directly acquire information that is then provided to the FBI by an FBI CHS.”

December 2016: Trump ignores Obama and appoints Gen Flynn as National Security Advisor. Flynn is being vetted. Halper and Dearlove (former head of MI6) put out a fake news story that Cambridge seminar Flynn is linked to is penetrated by Russian intelligence. /2
For maximum impact, Dearlove and Halper announce resignations from the Cambridge seminar. (Except Halper already retired from Cambridge 6 months and Dearlove resigns and rejoins within weeks).

We know that Steele’s attributed “source” is the former head of SVR Trubnikov. That’s because have notes of Steele’s meeting with State Dept Kavalec. But we also know that Steele lied about everything. And if Trubnikov was a real source, no way would he be exposed.
There is no evidence that Steele ever met with Trubnikov. Steele attributes his “sourcing” to third parties. But there is someone who did meet Trubnikov (although not as a source!). That someone would be Professor Stefan Halper.
