House Judiciary Committee chairman Nadler gives @realDonaldTrump until Dec. 1 at 6PM to respond with his intent to participate and identify who will represent him as counsel.

Notably, Nadler included the full House resolution for the president's consideration. It outlines the rules of the road for the inquiry. You can read it in the aforementioned link.

Note: If Trump were not available to attend the hearing on Dec. 4, the original invitation was extended to his counsel to participate in his stead, for the record.
We will hear many complaints from the WH no doubt about the lack of prep time available. The inquiry was authorized by the House on Oct. 31. Weeks have passed for preparation, even the most rudimentary.

UPDATE: House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler has extended the deadline for POTUS to notify committee whether WH counsel will participate in impeachment proceedings and/or how exec privilege will be exercised. Deadline was Dec. 1, now Dec. 6.

Nadler also issued a letter to the ranking Republican on the committee, Rep. Doug Collins. He has given Collins until Dec. 6 to issue subpoenas "necessary to the investigation." Nadler also says he intends to hold a committee mtg on Dec. 9 to discuss those subpoenas & next steps.
Reminder: Legal experts are scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 4 to publicly discuss constitutional framework for impeachment, what articles could be forwarded to Senate and more. I will live-tweet the proceedings for @CourthouseNews.

Almost a year ago, a cancerous tumor nearly killed my mother where she stood. Thanksgiving and Christmas were sad affairs, heavy with worry. Things are by far better this year but still very challenging. Cancer is a real SOB. But she is magnificently tough and devoted to living.
I think of a lot of people who will spend the holidays asleep, rocked from chemo, their families in the next room putting on a brave face but deep down roiling with anger at the disease, the unfairness of it, the fact that it robs you of even the simplest, most momentary comfort
I think of these people because I suppose, while it makes me sad knowing we are in the same club that none of us wanted access to, it gives me a bit of strength to know others have tread this path too and know exactly how it feels to march forward w/a black cloud over your head

The push is part of a coordinated effort with the Overisght Committee to raise questions about government spending at Trump properties, particularly about VP Pence's stay at Trump's Doonbeg resort in Ireland. The details:

Upon opening the spreadsheet, the first thing you should do is go up to "Data", then click "Filter views..." and then click "Create new temporary filter view." This is what will allow you to see support for an impeachment inquiry for specific groups of representatives.
But it will also allow to do the most basic thing, which is filter out representatives who don't support an impeachment inquiry. Let's say we just want to see ONLY representatives who support it.

OK, let's cut through the noise on impeachment.

First, let's state the obvious:

Donald Trump's entire presidency is an impeachable offense, an affront to basic human values, an insult to common sense and common decency, a threat to the rule of law.

The #MuellerReport found multiple instances where Trump obstructed—or attempted to obstruct—justice.

He has violated the emoluments clause of the Constitution by using the office to enrich himself and his family.

He coddles dictators while alienating allies.

Trump has repeatedly undermined the First Amendment (which he's sworn to defend) by inciting violence against the free press and calling them "enemies of the people."

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.
