It's a family occasion..Today's tree planters range from tots with plastic spades to diggers of the more mature variety

I asked Cllr Dawn Collins how she felt the tree planting had gone today.

'We've planted a thousand trees in under two hours. It's just been absolutely magnificent'

Within the first hour, this whole area was planted with a variety of trees, including fruit trees

@Horsforth_Bloom My friends Linda and Andrew modelling the E-Z-Tree Planting kit:

- A bunch of ready to plant whips (small saplings)
- A bunch of bamboo canes
- A spade

Out of pic - the plastic shields which protect the young tree (we had to hunt them down!)

@Horsforth_Bloom @PFreeNWLeeds @XRLeeds @WYP_LeedsNW So a huge thank you to @CllrJTaylor Cllr Dawn Collins and Cllr Jackie Shemilt for coordinating Horsforth's first big tree planting.

Cllr Collins told me there will be another 2,500 to plant in March - so that'll be a morning's work then!
