So - I have interesting situation - I have to basically live my life without antibiotics. Been this way for about twenty years. Since I was young, I have had a life threatening allergy to penicillins, and all cephlasporins. My toolbox got very small due to antibiotic resistance.
As time went on, anti-inflammatory meds were added to the list along with different types of freezing. A trip to the dentist for a filling left me with temp paralysis on one side of my face, and a trip to the emergency room for an Epi.
That is when we found out that some allergic reactions will not respond to an Epi. That brings you into medications made with blood products.
So, I had to figure out how to live entirely without antibiotics, pain meds, Tylenol, Advil, anti inflammatory (no Prednisone). My antibiotics had to come from nature. Topically, it's ionic silver, oregano. UTI's it's black seed oil, Prednisone it's Aswaghanda (for poison oak)
I have had to figure out how to work around almost every medication because of how I react. It feels like you have had a mini stroke, the bad reactions. Your face looks monstrous, your breathing gets brutally strained from everything swelling.
That condition has probably shaped a lot of my independent thought. In the beginning my doctors would just find a med that I could use, until one sat down and talked to me about antibiotic resistance and how it could affect me later in life, especially with Strep B.
We put a moratorium on meds basically, and started using nutrition, nature and other therapies to handle everyday life. And, that lead to building an immune system that could take a lot. Having a strong immune system became critical when working on First Nations, and in sewage.
Exposure to water borne infections could wipe me out, and almost has. As I meet people, I find more like me. Most of those people dealt with MRSA or H Pylori. Over exposure to antibiotics had left them without a viable toolkit either. We just learned to overcome and adapt.
All of the above? It ties into the idea that people need to know how to be independent, self-sufficient, and able to think outside the box to find a way through. Me? I'm a survivalist as a direct result of it. I have to assess and weigh risk for everything before I do it.
