Right then. My #GE2019 #TacticalVoting video project is ready!

I have made 128 films about the 128 constituencies where tactical voting will make the most difference at #GE2019

All the videos are on a dedicated micro-site:

Videos are in 8 categories:
Tactically vote Labour to make sure Labour still wins the seat (48 seats)
Tactically vote Labour to un-seat a Conservative (21)
Tactically vote Lib Dem to make sure Lib Dems still win the seat (4)
Tactically vote Lib Dem to un-seat a Conservative (3)

Each video is 1 minute in length, give or take a few seconds. And should give a simple guide as to how to vote tactically in that seat.

The videos are all on Youtube to allow them to be easily shared.

The very idea that Andrew Neil will *not* interview Boris Johnson during #GE2019 worries me a lot - for the sake of UK politics, and for the future of the BBC too

I will explore the aspects of this in the thread
First a caveat: Neil is a divisive character. I tend to not trust him. Others take the opposite view. But for the sake of this thread let's not argue about whether Neil is good or bad.

Like it or not, Neil is the BBC's most prominent political interviewer. We start from there.

@SwapmyVote Alice lives in Town X. She’s always voted for the Red Party, but they can’t win where she lives. If she wants a progressive MP to represent her, she needs to vote Yellow, because they can win. It’s not ideal.

Firstly, our study shows the Conservatives could win up to 366 seats in the General Election. But…

…to do that, they’d have to hold or gain a lot of marginal seats. And in those marginal seats, tactical voting could make all the difference.

I ‘m not sure people ‘get’ tactical voting. In principle we understand the idea of not voting for our first choice in order to influence the parliamentary maths.

But we are still drawn, magnetically, emotionally or tribally, to the person or party we would like to win without objectively assessing whether that person actually has a chance.
(2)
This is not a #referendum. If the person you vote for does not win, you are left with nothing. (3)

#TacticalVoting is a good plan, and it was promoted heavily it before the 2017 GE. Here are two seats that the #Conservatives still won. In #RichmondPark, where #Labour are never going to win, they took 5773 votes. Zac Goldsmith won with a majority of 45.
In Hastings and Rye, The LibDems, who were never going to win, took 1885 votes. Amber Rudd won by 346 votes. Had the #LibDems and #Labour stood aside appropriately in these two seats, and told its supporters who to support, there would have probably been more favourable results.
My concern is that, like in 2017, the #TacticalVoting message won't reach everybody. It is a shame that at least one of these parties won't entertain any concept of not standing in some constituencies.

Tactical Voting for Students
If you're a student, you can register to vote at 2 addresses:
- your home address
- your term-time address.
You can only vote ONCE, but you can choose where you vote so long as you registered at both addresses.
#TacticalVoting #TacticalVote
Now, your vote might have much more "power" at home, or away. For example, your home address might be in a "one party seat" (i.e. one that never changes hands) but your term-time address is in a competitive seat, or vice versa.
So if you want to maximise the tactical value of your vote, think about the characteristics of the two places you *could* vote, then vote in the "correct" one (you can register to do it by post if that helps).
