#TacticalVoting. A thread.

I ‘m not sure people ‘get’ tactical voting. In principle we understand the idea of not voting for our first choice in order to influence the parliamentary maths.
(1)
But we are still drawn, magnetically, emotionally or tribally, to the person or party we would like to win without objectively assessing whether that person actually has a chance.
(2)
This is not a #referendum. If the person you vote for does not win, you are left with nothing. (3)
I say this after talking to people who are treating this election as any old #election rather than a one-off, critical vote. (4)
Very worryingly, they seem unaware that there is a chance – a last chance – to stop #brexit, or at least to get a #referendum on #BorisJohnson’s so-called ‘deal’, with an option to #remain on the ballot paper. (5)
My heart sinks as they articulate personal dislike for a local remain candidate despite that candidate having the best chance of getting or keeping the #Tory candidate out, and say they won’t vote for him or her. (6)
It sinks further as they say that if #Corbyn wins he’ll re-nationalise everything so they can’t vote for him. (7)
Enough already. Our impressions of our local remain candidates are, sadly, irrelevant to the choice we have to make. And Corbyn will never get a majority anyway so he will not be able to carry out those policies that worry some people so much. (8)
There is one issue on 12 December and one issue only. Deny Johnson a #majority. Stop him from being able to drag us out of the #EU without a final say.

The last 3 years of chaos and division? The last 9 years of Tory rule? Child’s play in terms of what’s to come. (9)
Do not believe the lies. Do not believe the puff. Johnson is not benign. He is ruthless, lawless and dangerous.

On 12 December we have one job. We must vote the Tories out.

This is not a drill.
