Tried Cash App because I'm sort of professionally obligated to understand how to move money around.

It's amazing how much better UX has gotten in the last few years when someone cares about that and relentlessly optimizes for it.
Signed up, added $5 from an existing bank account, and ordered a debit card within about 3 minutes.
It's a really interesting comparison to Paypay and the similar Japanese wallet apps, which are much, much busier in terms of design and extremely optimized for QR code payments (which is where all the money is long-term for them).

One of the best podcasts I listened to this year.

Single biggest insight is that companies have complicated capital structures, that this is value-creating by assigning risk to people who want it, and that other things can now have complicated capital structures due to tech.
"Complicated" in financial engineering gets a bad rap much like it does in software engineering. The enemy isn't complexity, it is abstractions which make the complexity illegible.
The world largely misdiagnoses the 2008 financial crisis as being a result of complexity, incidentally. The underlying fault was in simple debt instruments (mortgages) in a really straightforward fashion (inability to pay as agreed).

The flow-forward of the losses was complex.

A thing you’re going to start seeing more frequently: software companies entirely funded by software people, without needing to tap traditional large pools of money (VC funds backed by pensions/universities/family offices) basically ever.
If you can imagine all the stakeholders for a SaaS company around a table, imagine someone looking at the university endowment manager and saying “What compelling unique value do you provide here to justify 2000 basis points?”
That would be a really socially awkward question to ask of someone actually at the table but there’s a simple way to avoid that awkwardness: never invite them to the table in the first place.

3/9 If I buy a regular petrol/diesel car, it may get obsolete sooner than I imagined. Eg: NCR banned 10yr old #diesel vehicles to improve air quality, push towards electric. All this affects resale value of the #cars. Hence, I considered pushing the life of my current car

part of the reason golf is so fascinating to me rn is basically that i just found out that it's not the least bit simple. like i always wondered what the fuck they put in golf digest etc. but it turns out there's controversies on controversies
from what i've gathered so far it seems like they're constantly banning and unbanning equipment and techniques. does this happen in football at this pace? maybe? but it seems like there's less equipment in most other sports?
one thing i've come across a *bunch* is that in 2016 the USGA banned "anchored putting", which is when you... yeah... when you... yeah.. .uh .. . . it's when you dig the end of your putter into your belly or shoulder to stabilize it. it looks Awful.
