I can't get over the fact that the president of the United States and his allies are pushing debunked conspiracy theories that our own intel community (including former high-level, Trump-appointed White House officials) have warned are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.
And that there are people with massive media platforms who, despite knowing better, somewhere in the depths of what's left of their soul, are ready and willing to feed this constant stream of utter bullshit to line their pockets.
Hypocrisy and dissembling are the coin of the realm in DC, and partisans have always rallied to protect their own. This is not a new problem, on either side. But as bad as it gets sometimes, it always felt like there were limits.
The limits always changed, but they were there. And they always kicked in well before someone got to the point of embracing a foreign, hostile power's disinformation campaign despite clear, repeated warnings from our own career intel officials.
