One of the weirder aspects of this is that even the GOP caucus isn’t willing to run with this “server” gibberish, and so have concocted a bunch of less-obviously-insane nonsense to defend. Except it has zero relationship to what Trump actually wanted investigated.

The imaginary server is the one part of this so plainly bonkers that even Trump’s most vigorous bootlickers aren’t attempting to defend it. They’ve just decided to inhabit a fantasy world where Trump didn’t ask for that investigation.
He didn’t just ask on the call, by the way. Amb. Sondland’s testimony repeatedly described the two investigations Trump was demanding: One about Burisma, and one about “the DNC server.” Not “election interference” or op-eds. A made up server.
