The Turkish lobbying indictment does address one of the weirder aspects of all of this -- a "Gulenopoly" graphic that appeared in an op-ed for The Hill (go figure). My initial article on it, before it was known that the graphic had Flynn Intel links: dailycaller.com/2017/01/19/how…
Denny Rehberg, a former GOP congressman and lobbyist for Mercury wrote an anti-Gulen op-ed (much like Flynn's). He included this strange graphic in the piece. thehill.com/blogs/congress…
Mercury reluctantly admitted that they had submitted the op-ed to The Hill. But they denied that Mercury, who had lobbied for Turkey in the past (and currently is now) did not have contracts w/ Turkey at the time. So who created the graphic, why, and how did it get to Mercury?
Flynn's FARA registration w/ DOJ revealed that Flynn Intel commissioned the graphic from SGR Lobbying. For whatever reason, Flynn Intel did not disseminate it. But they did give it to Ekim Alptekin, who told me he did not share it w/ anyone affiliated with Turkish gov't.
Alptekin later admitted that he sent the graphic to Morris Reid at Mercury. Note: Mercury is reportedly under investigation for its Manafort-related work. They currently lobby for the Turkish-U.S. Business Council, which Alptekin previously chaired.
