This is the mechanism I've been watching for several years now, to my increasing frustration that no one else seemed to notice the same. I wrote about it here
I mean, there are a ton of other sites involved, mostly now-defunct bottom feeders, but really you didn't need much. Social media algorithms (remember those? Please see my pinned tweet) undoubtedly got this shit to as many eyes of people ID'd as receptive as possible.
Oh and the credulous "both-sides" media, terrified of being called biased by bad-faith far right dipshits and other nut jobs, bent over backwards to show that they weren't really left-leaning, no sir, gotta preserve that access amirite, colleagues?
