@GovRonDeSantis This is 51-year-old Cheryl Weimar. She was beaten within an inch of her life by Florida corrections officers, who broke her neck because she couldn't clean a toilet. She is now a quadriplegic requiring around-the-clock medical care. Florida's DOC refuses to give her that care. 
@GovRonDeSantis Her attorney, Ryan Andrews, filed an emergency petition last night demanding that the state of Florida give her the care that the agency's own doctors say she urgently needs to stay alive.
@GovRonDeSantis The DOC will not pay for the private medical attention she needs, even though there is no dispute that she was attacked and beaten by corrections officers. Instead, DOC says they will release her (how kind of them) and then she is on her own to find her own medical care.
@GovRonDeSantis Cheryl Weimar is now housed in the prison infirmary. Doctors say she has pneumonia, is developing ulcers, requires urinary catheterization every 6 hours and will not regain any use of her legs and arms. But she is nevertheless still handcuffed & chained to her bed.
