THREAD: Hey! Want to read some Christmas comics? Have I got the thread for you! Ive spent the better part of a decade finding as many as I can & custom binding them. I'll be adding to this thread randomly all December with my thoughts & recs on plenty of Holiday comics. Join me!
Green Lantern 59-A top 10 single issue for me. Kyle Rayner has to do watch duty for the best team of Titans ever, alone on Xmas Eve. He gets sad, goes out into the city, fights Dr. Polaris & then comes back where Donna Troy meets him with mistletoe. MUST READ
Savage Dragon 106-Santa Claus has gone missing & the elves recruit Savage Dragon to fill in for him. A fun charming issue where Dragon doesnt want to do it but he & his family take on the task but have to fight The Seeker when he attacks the sleigh! MUST READ
Marvel Holiday Special 1-THE HOLY GRAIL! I remember my Mom buying this for me on one of our stops at the comic store before we then had to wait for her at the salon. I DUG INTO this comic. I was 4 or 5 & the stories in this one are burned into my brain. THAT ART ADAMS COVER
This one has an X-Men story by Lobdell & Dave Cockrum thats just so good. The X-Men go after the strongest mutant ever registered by Cerebro & run into the Brotherhood at a mall. Santa shows up (the mutant in question) & turns the Brotherhood into toys. This rules
This one has a Fantastic Four story by Walt Simonson & Art Adams thats an alltimer for me. Franklin is out with Sue Xmas shopping & runs into a Dickensian spirit he decides to help. But to do so he must give up his X-Mutant Killer Krokodile Ornament!! Its so so so good guys
This story also has my favorite page of Sue Storm ever. Look at that outfit. But really look at how she uses her powers to not have to walk through NYC crowds around Christmas! It will always be the image in my mind for her.
This one has a DeFalco/Buscema viking age Thor issue where Odin & Thor must conted with Grylak the troll. It gives us this page of Odin as the Yule figure of his age celebrating Midwinter! Absolutely fantastic stuff
This one has a Ghost Rider story where some criminals try to kidnap a blind boy & he tries to escape finding the Rider & thinking hes Santa. Its truly great. This page is forever in my brain
For all of X-Twitter some Merry Mutant Holiday Melodies
Some pinups from Marvel Holiday Special 1. Love Strong Guy inexplicably being included in that snowball fight
Marvel Holiday Special 2 1993-Another jampacked must read issue. Another gorgeous Art Adams cover. Incredible work.
The highlight of this one is the New Warriors story. An alltime best. I love Rage & Speedball shopping & seeing their difference in background, family, race but that theyre such great friends & teammates. I love the little Xmas party. Love the Darick Robertson art. So good.
The Punisher dresses as a charity Santa in this one. Priceless
Theres a Jim Starlin/Ron Lim Thanos & Gamora story in here that is honestly the single most important comic ever for their relationship & Thanos' character. Its kind of funny how much of the MCU is built on this single short Holiday story. Its excellent
Some pinups from Marvel Holiday Special 2 1993. Love the Excalibur & Deathlok one. The Dazzler one is so weird but eerily beautiful
Marvel Holiday Special 3 1994-This ones not as big or great as the previous ones. It does have a nice Chaykin Fury story & a PAD Pantheon era Hulk story that are pretty solid though
The highlight of this one is an Ann Nocenti Tom Grindberg Ghost Rider tale. Its hilarious & insane & I love that so bad its good Grindberg style
Marvel Holiday Special 1994-Another so so one. This isnt a must read one but it has a ton of content for X-Men fans which I'll elaborate on below. Nice Perez cover though
This is the one that features Kurt Busiek doing the unpublished story that X-Men 49 was meant to be. Beast & Iceman vs Metoxo! Busiek rather brilliantly has a new Metoxo story where Beast & Iceman reminisce on this unpublished one as a canon old days adventure. Its pretty good
Karl Bollers & Sal Buscema do the X-Men in The Night Before Christmas. I love it! Ill post it in its entirety (1/2)
Karl Bollers & Sal Buscema do the X-Men in The Night Before Christmas. I love it! Ill post it in its entirety (2/2)
Spider-Man Holiday Special 1995-This one starts us in the Ben Reilly era with a Glenn Greenberg(Spidey Legend!!) story with rare Marvel Kevin Maguire art. Its a very cute little story that I love because its Ben
This one also has a really good Venom story where Javier Saltares draws one of the most expressive & best renditions of Venom Ive ever seen to this day. Its that good shit
Marvel Holiday Special 1996-This ones fine. Its got a Wolverine X-Men story thats ok with a great page of Cable, Jean & Cyclops exchanging gifts.
Evan Skolnick, a personal comics legend favorite of mine, writes a very dour Ellis era Kitty Pryde story thats ok in here
But the highlight of this one is a J.Jonah Jameson tale by Mark Waid & Pat Oliffe. Its a really well done & hilarious story where rather than die, Jonah saves Spider-man & gets caught
Marvel Holiday Special 2004-Weve got J. Jonah again, The X-Men & Franklin & the Fantastic Four. This is another ok one. Solid but no must have
The highlight of this one is the J. Jonah Jameson in A Christmas Carol by Tom DeFalco, Takeshi Miyazawa & Christina Strain
Theres a really nice little X-Men story in here of Scott & Emma cancelling their trip to Pleasure Island (HA!) to spend the Holidays with Wither of all characters.
Marvel Holiday Special 2005-Another alltime banger. One of the best. This has 3 really good ones in it. A Must Read
The first story, The Mole Man's Christmas, gorgeously illustrated by Roger Langridge is a delight. The Mole Man is gone after reminiscing on Santa. The Mole Men are kidnapping Santas to find one that matches one that looks like the Mole Man's Dad did when he dressed up as Santa..
The Thing realizes Mole Man's dad looked just like Namor, so he has him dress up as Santa, giving us one of the best images ever in comics. Then, it turns out the Mole Man is just on vacation. God, this ones fantastic
Next we have one of my favorite Christmas comics ever:Yes, Virginia There is a Santron by Jeff Parker & Reilly Brown. Virginia, aninventor who becomes obsessed with Santa Claus reprograms an old Ultron unit into a Santa Claus, but it reverts to its old ways & attacks the Avengers
Theres a lot of funny moments at the Avengers Xmas party at Dr. Strnage's house like Gravity trying to come in & no one recognizes him & he cant get in. A remote controlled mistletoe so everyone can kiss Jessica Drew & Strange's carnivorous fir tree
This ones not only one of the best Christmas comics of all time but one of the best comics of all time. Full Stop
Marvel Holiday Special 2006-This ones ok. The highlight is you get one of Scott Gray & Roger Langridge's Fin Fang Foom stories in here. These all rule hard & this one doesnt disappoint. Wong & Fin Fang Foom vs Hydra to save Christmas!!
Marvel Holiday Special 2007:One of the weaker ones. It does give us a story of Spidey trying to keep cake safe for an Xmas party but ruins it helping Wolverine, so we get a page of Wolverine baking. Theres also a Loners story in here which is just wild
Marvel Holiday Special 2011-This ones not amazing or anything but has a fun Wolverine & the X-Men story where they play ice hockey. Hellion is in it. Theres also a nice story of where Kitty Pryde gets all the Jewish superheroes together for a Hanukkah party
Marvel Team-Up 1:Spidey & Human Torch vs the Sandman! This is one of the first attempts to humanize ol Sandman, one of my top Marvel characters. He just wants to see his mom for Christmas. Love this old one.
Uncanny x-Men 143-We all know this one. Claremont & Byrne make Kitty Pryde fight a Xenomorph on Christmas. Its obviously great. If you somehow havent, def read it
Amazing Spider-Man 314: A McFarlane/Michelinie joint. A great quiet issue of the Parkers being kicked out of their city apartment on Christmas. Pete tries to find some place to stay that isnt Aunt May's, but shes his last hope. She, much to his surprise, is absolutely thrilled.
Incredible Hulk 378:One of the funniest comics ever published. Bill Jaaska's unique, expressive art really MAKES this issue. The Rhino gets a job as a department store Santa & runs into Joe Fixit & shenanigans ensue. That panel of them being nice is PEAK COMEDY
Marvel Two-In-One 8:Miracle Man makes a fake Bethlehem that Ghost Rider & The Thing end up teaming up to investigate. They disguise themselves as 2 of the Wisemen. I love this ABSURD comic. It is a must read for me.
In case you didnt believe how much I love this one. I customized & created my own recreation of this comic for my mantle manger scene for Christmas

Spider-Man's Tangled Web 21: Darwyn Cooke & J.Bone art! One of the greatest single issues ever made! Flash Thompson! Medusa! Crystal! Wasp! Sue Storm! Shopping! Mind control! Fights at the mall! Snowstorms! The FF! Papa-San J. Jonah Jameson! THIS HAS IT ALL! BUY THIS COMIC!!
What The? 10: Lobdell & Byrne bring us..............SANTA DOOM! Hard to get past the creators, but try, this is great. Byrne draws some terrifying reindeer & little Who girls
Spectacular Spider-Man 112:I know how problematic it can be, but Im a huge sucker for anything Mark Beachum. This is one of the few PAD/Beachum Spec Spidey issues. It deals with a crook Santa trying to rob one of Peter's neighbors, Bambi.
X-Men 109: The 100 page Christmas monster with a lead story by Claremont setting up X-Treme X-Men & reprinting Uncanny X-Men 98,143,& 341. This sure is a late era Claremont comic. Pick it up if you like Angel & Psylocke breaking up, Rogue & Gambit,Thunderbird III or X-Treme X-Men
Uncanny X-Men 98: The Claremont Cockrum return of the Sentinels story. Y'all know this one with the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas opening
Uncanny X-Men 341: One of the alltime single issues. Joe Mad draws NYC at Christmastime. Magnetic powered air carriage rides. Rogue forehead kisses. Cannonball BEATING Gladiator. This comic is a beautiful Christmas treasure
Uncanny X-Men 230: I hope by now yall know that the Silvestri Outback era X-Men is my favorite if Ive done anything on here. This is a heartwarming globe spanning Outback era Claremont/Silvestri masterpiece. Another alltime single issue. The X-Men have great Xmas issues
X-Men 165: We all make jokes about how bad latter era Claremont can be, but this is a solid X-Men Christmas issue. It also gave us the legendary laughing Rudolph Cyclops. The gift that keeps on giving
Great Lakes Avengers GLX-Mas Special:This ones ok. You get a lot of that old fun Squirrel Girl humor. Theres a bunch of Ty Templeton art & Paul Grist art which is the highlight. Its still Sl*tt writing the whole thing, so take it with a grain of salt.
Thor 444:Now were talking! A DeFalco/Frenz Eric Masterson Thor masterpiece! Thor vs THE GROONK!! Eric navigates his personal life during the Holiday Season while also having to deal with a big ol Grinch parody misunderstood monster. LOVE this one.
Force Works 8: People make fun of Force Works but its still Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning writing solid ahead of its time Avengers comics. This is a highlight of the run. FW throws a Christmas party that Hawkeye crashes. Thats the whole issue. Its fantastic.
Daredevil 266:A classic Nocenti/JR Jr. joint. Depressed ol DD is in a bar around Xmas time when Mephisto comes in to try & seduce him & mess with him. All the bar's patron's darker impulses are brought out in that typical absurd Nocenti fashion. Not very Christmasey but its great
Amazing Spider-Man 166: Spidey vs Stegron vs The Lizard on Christmas! Stegron steals the Lizard's equipment to reanimate dinosaur fossils and everybody fights. Its Stegron, its just the best. I had this one as a kid. I love this one.
Winter Soldier: Winter Kills:Set against a flashback of the Invaders during Christmas War time, Bucky goes on a Christmastime mission. He runs afoul of some of the Young avengers & has a meetup with Namor. This is legit one of the best single issues comics ever had.
Chastity 6: Chastity fights a vampire dressed as Santa thats abducting children. Its a perfectly fine comic. Nothing special but its still Marc Andreyko writing. It has a cute ending too. And if Santa vampires is your thing, here you go!
Within Our Reach: A 1991 Holiday flipbook charity comic for the AmFAR AIDS research group & Sempervirens, a forest preservation society. Theres ALOT in here - Ive included the contents in the pics. The highlights are the P. Craig Russell Gift of the Magi & the Concrete story.
Glory & Friends Christmas Special:A pretty terrible comic that features a The Rob Glory story, pinups & Christmas stories for Bloodpool, Knightmare, & Riptide of Youngblood. I wouldnt rec this unless you want some ridiculous excesses of the 90's with a dash of Xmas
The Last Christmas: By Gerry Duggan & Brian Posehn & DRAWN by Rick Remender. Its a gross out, crass, silly book
with charm about Santa trying to reclaim Christmas after turning his back on humanity and becoming an old drunk in a post apocalypstic zombie future. Stupid but fun
Top Cow Holiday Special:This ones solid as it takes place during that high quality TC time when Marz was integrating every franchise together. Fun to just see every character interacting especially Cyberforce here.
Jingle Belle: The Whole Package!:This is the easiest way to read the delightful Jingle Belle, Paul Dini's original creation. Basically Harley as Santa's sassy teen daughter. All manner of Christmas hijinx in these comics. Its really fun stuff by tons of diff talented artists
Animaniacs: A Christmas Special: A solid fun little issue involving the entirety of all the cartoons on Animaniacs for a Christmas tale.
Howard the Duck Magazine 3: A suitably insane Bill Mantlo Howard Christmas story drawn by Gene Colan. Howard & Carol, an embittered little girl that hates Christmas, team up with Santa & all types to save the Holiday!
Extreme Super Christmas Special:A stupid ass comic. Everyones favorite character, Troll, has to assemble all the things from the 12 Days of Christmas song. Its a Giffen plot by so many creators. Hahah this is such a dumb comic
Spawn 39:This isnt very good. They try to do a cutesy story where a kid hears Spawn's chains & boots on his buildings roof & thinks its Santa. Its a fun idea, but this is still a 90's Spawn issue so its still a hot mess
The Spirit Holiday Special: This is a solid comic with a lot of great art but the Christmas portion of it is barely that. Just a winter story really.
Gen13 48: Not a great era for Gen13. This one sure is an Ed Benes comic. Its not a very great Christmas one. Its mostly Caitlin dealing with a new creep guy & the team fighting Bedbug around Xmas time in the snow
Flash Gordon Holiday Special: I love the Parker/Shaner Flash Gordon series but sadly, besides this GORGEOUS cover, they dont do any of the inside. It has 3 totally fine little stories. Fun but nothing to write home about.
Batman Brave and the Bold 12: A real fun one. Batman is beating up Calendar Man on Christmas Eve when the Zeta Beam takes him to Rann for an adventure with Adam Strange. Some wild shenanigans warp them into an elf & Santa look as they save the day
Superman 405: "Yes, Lowell, There is a Superman" is a backup story that has a little sassy kid who doesnt believe in Santa Claus or Superman. Supes keeps trying to meet him but he keeps having to deal with stuff during Xmas time. Finally he does prove his existence to the boy.
Impulse 45: A cute heartwarming story all about Impulse, his mom, Max Mercury & an odd assortment of villains catching the "Christmas Impulse" as Bart puts it
Detective Comics 826: A famous Paul Dini one where the Joker abducts Tim Drake & takes him on a "slayride". This is a really great Joker done in one set around the Holidays. Highly recommended.
Justice League Task Force 37: A Priest written Holiday wrap up to a much maligned series that actually rules. The Justice League teams have a Christmas party in this issue mainly revolving around Triumph & what happens when his Neron offered candle is accidentally lit.
Justice League of America 152:This is a zany one. 3 alien "wise men" lose their gifts on Earth which leads to all kinds of trouble for the league featuring Major Macabre & a now powered up stag & young Middle Eastern girl. It is bonkers.
Gotham City Sirens 7: My favorite issue of GCS! Harley goes to visit her family which leads to all sorts of fun character drama. David Lopez draws it all wonderfully. One of Harley Quinn's defining issues as far as Im concerned. When she was still a real person
Superman 64: Triangle era Metropolis Mailbag!! A Dan Jurgens classic. every year Superman answers the countless letters & requests he gets from everyone. This is a very sweet full of Christmas cheer issue. I love these almost annual Metropolis Mailbag issues
Batman 309: A young woman attempts suicide but Blockbuster barges in on her & absconds with her unconscious body. Batman must fight the mindless brute to save her. Its allright. I get why Batman has to step in but if anything he exacerbates the situation.
The Spectre 12: Hey, its that series about Hal Jordan Spectre DC doesnt want you to remember exists! J.M. DeMatteis! Ryan Sook! This comic is AMAZING!! Hal Spectre meets Santa Claus who is summed up in a great eternal comic bookey spiritual way then..
Hal enjoys Santa's Christmas party with Abin Sur & Charles Dickens. Then he goes with Dickens to confront the metaphysical Scrooge, given form & terrible power. Hal defeats him by remembering his childhood Christmas & the power of laughter & family & love for the season. So good
Young Justice 40:A very fun YJ Twas the Night Before Christmas full page splash issue. Mix in a little Monster at the end of this book 4th wall breaking. Its a funny one.
Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special: Giffen, Grant & Bisley do that ultra violent insanity in this charming tale. A drunken Easter Bunny hires the Main Man to take out Santa Claus. If you like Lobo even a little bit, youll love this one. Santa vs Lobo is great
The Batman Family 4: Robin's White Christmas -Bob Rozakis is a Batfam writing legend. This is a silly little Dick getting involved with charity Santas & criminal Santas while trying to get home for Christmas. Id love to see Dick's old GF, Lori come back today
Batman Adventures 28: The usual comic gold from this title. Batman vs Harley & Joker trying to pull a Christmas mind control plan
Adventures of Superman 487: Superman helps Bibbo as Santa Claus & Jimmy Olsen as an elf spread Christmas cheer in this mainly Bibbo & pals centric issue. This is A DAMN GOOD COMFORT FOOD COMIC
Batman & The Outsiders 19: Geo-Force vs Superman on Christmas! A great Xmas issue mainly about Halo & Geo-Force but a lot of good Holiday stuff for the whole team & the Superman content
Captain Atom 13: This is an underrated series but this isnt great. Its mainly about General Eiling being an ass with his family for Christmas. I do enjoy Captain Atom starting to be his own man at a bar by the end of the issue though
Authority vs Lobo: A hilarious sequel to Lobo's Paramilitary Christmas. Jenny Quantum finds that issue & loses it that Lobo killed Santa Claus, so she makes the Authority find their way to Lobo & the North Pole to fix everything. A great big fight ensues. Incredibly fun
Superman 76: Metropolis Mailbag II! With Superman dead, the rest of the heroes have to take up the task of answering all the letters for help that Superman handles each Holiday season. A great issue of everyone dealing with everything in the wake of Clark's death
Superman 369: Superman vs the Parasite on Christmas! And has an old figure from the Kent's past found out Clark's secret?! All this & more in this "Yule Duel" issue of Supes. I like his nostalgic Christmas memory page
Jonah Hex 34:Look at that cover! Hex tracks down a gang that kills the man meant to be Santa for a group of kids. He eventually finds them in a town run by his no good Pa, who he eventually gets the upper hand on. He then forces him to be the new stand-in Santa. Its really good
Green Lantern Mosaic 9: Give no attention to the writer. I always liked this one. Another Mark Beachum drawn Christmas comic. John Stewart tries to have an absurd Christmas celebration on Mosaic World with all the different aliens & races
Ambush Bug Stocking Stuffer: The usual Giffen insanity that comes with the Ambush Bug comics. This is a whopper of an issue, full of a crazy story & all the comedy that you'd expect. Giffen just riffing for 40 some Holiday pages
Hawk & Dove 20: Oh man do I love this one! Guest drawn by Kevin Maguire at the height of his powers! Dove goes shopping at We R Toys which then turns into Die Hard with her as John McClane. Then a Christmas party wrap up ending. AGH ITS SO GOOD!! My copy is signed by Karl Kesel!
Teen Titans Go 25: A fun show tie in comic of the Titans vs Billy Numerous then exchanging Secret Santa gifts. A charming all ages comic
The Flash 87: Waid & Wieringo spin a classic tale of Wally West handling business during the Christmas season. So many Holiday crimes he messes up his new relationship & his own Christmas Party
Batman & The Outsiders 8: The Outsiders & Phantom Stranger team up to battle Tannarak! This ones so worth it because you get to see Jim Aparo art of babies attacking the team
Superboy 12:This is a weird series thats a tie in to the live action Superboy show. This issue has Curt Swan art inked by Ty Templeton, so y'no...ITS FANTASTIC!! A magic amulet causes all types of crazy stuff, like giving everyone in Smallville super powers.
Shade, the Changing Man 19: Some Bachalo art for Christmas! This is a real good one of Shade in Bethlehem, USA. He ends up drinking with a guy who has been searching for The Messiah. He thinks its Shade & thats when his real plan comes out.
Superboy & The Ravers 5: This is a really weird series that I cant believe existed. But this is a pretty solid Christmas story with The Ravers featuring the H-E-R-O Dial. A little too tied into the whole series to be able to just pickup & enjoy solo though
Marvel Two-In-One 74: The Thing & Puppet Master! SO GOOD! Ben sends PM an Xmas card so he goes to the FF's party to mess with him & they end up going to PM's home country Transia. There they end up staying with BOVA(!) & an infantile Mordred who dreams up living toy troubles
Power Pack Holiday Special- This ones not so great for yuletide stuff but its the original creative team coming back after PP ended to retcon all the INSANE AWFUL BULLSHIT that happened at the end of that title. Its perfect & glorious for this reason. Perfect retcons
X-Factor 27: One of the best X-Factor issues. The Simonsons do a nice downtime drama single issue where the X-Factor younguns want to bring Christmas to sick kids in the hospital. It ends with an INCREDIBLE panel of a BEAMING Apocalypse toasting X-Factor
Journey Into Mystery 632: Volstagg as Santa! Due to a past scheme, Loki & Leah are given seven Hell Hounds as a "gift" & must find a home for them all. Its a wonderfully fun single issue of them giving away the impish dogs. Loki cannot get rid of one & that is the origin of Thori
Sensational Spider-Man 24: DeZago's Sensational run starting in the Clone Saga, but especially after, is one of the most joyful, fun Spidey runs there is. This is a really cute Peter getting into the Xmas spirit single issue. Pure fun. I love post Clone Saga era Spidey
Fantastic Four 361: A fun Ryan/DeFalco joint where The Thing teams up with The Yancy Street gang to save the son of an old bud of Ben's from Dr. Doom on Xmas. Doom is trying to rid the world of drugs by experimenting on castoffs, one of which is the said boy. Great stuff
Howard the Duck Holiday Special: This is an INSANE comic where Howard has to fill in as a department store Santa but is then recruited to help Santa fight a Hydra takeover of the North Pole. I dont know if Id call this comic "good" but it sure is something!
Spectacular Spider-Man 173: Spidey & Doc Ock both are having a rough time lately as the Holidays start. Otto seeks out May as some form of hope for himself. As he peers in on the Parker household Spidey catches him & they brawl until May stops it.They both wallow in their sadness
Spider-Man Christmas in Dallas: A super weird thing. This was a special give-away supplement included in a 1983 edition of The Dallas Times Herald. Spidey vs The Kingpin in a charity ball in Dallas. The funniest thing is the ending where Kingpin literally "Poochies out"
Marvel Comics Presents 18: Look at that cover! Only the Willie Lumpkin & She-Hulk stories in this are Christmas themed but they are both absurd & hilarious little stories
Alpha Flight 105: This is another crazy ass issue with the male & female AF members having their separate bachelor/bachelorette parties around Christmas with a lot of weird shit happening. Theres a male Xmas stripper pinup at the end. Later Alpha Flight is quite the series
Avengers Annual 1:Cap's all alone in Avengers Tower for Christmas! Or is he? One of Shang-Chi's students, Zamira & her powers end up running amuk in the Tower & Cap realizes he's not as alone as he thought. Kathryn Immonen & David Lafuente make a delightful & hilarious annual!
The Sensational Spider-Man Annual 1: Ive written about this one before in my MJ thread. While also being one of the best comics of alltime, most of it is Christmas time flashbacks. Its a great one for the season!

Sensational She-Hulk 36: Jen's usual Byrne 4th wall breaking mad-cap adventures continue in this quiet issue where she visits her dad for Christmas
Spider-Girl 54: Mayday vs the Soldiers of the Serpent as she deals with the Holidays & her love life. I am a huge sucker for everything MC2 & this is a Christmas favorite
Scarlet Spider 12: My favorite issue of one of the most underrated series Marvel has ever published. Reilly Brown KILLS IT this issue as Kaine & his supporting cast must deal with a band of criminal Santas. I actually own a page from this issue!
comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.a…
Hawkeye 17: The multidenominational pantheistic all-inclusive seasonal special Winter Friends starring Steve, the dog with no powers! A very funny Hawkguy & christmas special parody cartoon issue
Daredevil 241: Ann Nocenti & Todd McFarlane bring us another zany & dour as hell Nocenti Christmas. Matt vs the Trixter, a one off villain only in this issue. Its a really weird issue!!
Moon Knight Silent Knight: A SUPER depressing special about how Moon Knight will always be crazy & always toil in the streets beating people up, while Marlene will never have the special love & family she wants with Marc. Peter Milligan just wants us to be sad I guess
Fantastic Four 564-565: The FF visit Haimish Richards, Reed's cousin in Scotland. Haimish & the town are involved in sacrificing people to a monster. This sure is a Mark Millar story
The most annoying thing about this one is 564's cover blurb. Id love to read a comic with that cover's plot, not the actually lame story Millar cooked up
Wolverine 49: Marvel sure was putting out a lot of Christmas issues with their more adult characters in the Oughts. This ones not great. Wolverine against some elf themed suicide cult terrorists. It tries to be like a Wolvie Die Hard but its just blah.
Tomb of Dracula 54: Everybody tries to kill Dracula but hes just trying to make sure his kid is born safely on Christmas Eve!
Fantastic Four 325: This is barely a Christmas tale even if the issue's title is A Christmas Tale. Its Englehart so its a Mantis story told in the pages of his FF. Celestial Madonna & Silver Surfer followup plots in this Kang vs Mantis issue.
What The? 16: Another What The Xmas issue. This has a fun Ant-Man vs Doc Ock in Santa's Workshop story. Some usual joke parodies & a Cookies & Milk Hanukkah story
Marvel Team-Up 127: More bleak than anything. Pete tracks down one of Aunt May's boarder's granddaughter with the help of The Watcher, but she gets shot. The Watcher kinda helps & Pete saves her & reunites the family. Not DeMatteis' best work
Ant-Man's BIG Christmas: This is one of the weirdest comics ever. Hank & Jan answer a letter of a kid that needs help for the Holidays. They cynically help the kid torture his awful family. It is so godamn zany & mean spirited & hilarious. I have no idea how this was published
Gonna do more of these today. Def wont finish with it all this 2019 year, but hey more fun next year!
Christmas With the Super-Heroes 1: This is a big Xmas reprint issue! DC Special Series 21,Justice League
110,Teen Titans 13,DC Comics Presents 67,Batman 219.The Byrne cover is great but Ive only now realized they hung up the stockings they were literally wearing. Robin's foot 😒
DC Special Series 21: Wanted Santa Claus Dead or Alive - Denny O'Neil & early Frank Miller Batman. Whats not to like?
Justice League of America 110: One of my alltime fave JL stories. The Key tries to destroy all of the JL with all manner of Christmas themed traps
The best part about that one is that John Stewart gets the spotlight as the Green Lantern for the League. He gets chosen by the ring to handle business after doofus Hal Jordan steps on a bar of soap, knocking himself out
Teen Titans 13: Zany ol Bob Haney Titans! The Titans get involved with Mr. Scrounge & all the crime that entangles his life. All types of ne'er-do-well fight scenes while they try to pull a Christmas Carol on him.
DC Special Series 21: The Legion in Star Light, Star Bright. PAUL LEVITZ, JOSE LUIS GARCIA LOPEZ, DICK GIORDANO!! This one RULES! We see Superboy visit the Legion & see how they all celebrate the Holidays. They then save races from diff planets & bring them together in harmony
DC Comics Presents 67: Superman teams up with.........SANTA CLAUS! A Curt Swan drawn issue where Supes & Santa battle the toyman. What an amazingly perfect plot
Batman 219: The Silent Night of the Batman. Neal Adams draws Batman just wailing away getting into the Christmas Spirit. I love this classic
Christmas With the Super-Heroes 2: Now were talking! All original Christmas stories in a big anthology book. Some alltime classics in here. I love the cover by Stephen DeStefano & Larry Mahlstedt
First up is the Superman story "Ex Machina" written & drawn by Paul Chadwick of Concrete fame. Im gonna post the whole thing because, to me, its one of the most absolute ESSENTIAL, PERFECT Superman stories EVER. Sometimes I think its my favorite Superman story (1/2)
(2/2) I love how it shows how much of an impact superman makes by caring about everyone & sometimes in just talking to them, he saves people. My favorite bit is him sending the man to his parent's &saying the Kents are a family that helped him with some trouble in Space one time
Next is a Dave Gibbons & Gray Morrow masterpiece about darkness, the Batcave, Batman, Robin, Alfred & Christmas. Extremely beautiful, poignant stuff
Next is a great post-crisis Wonder Woman story written & drawn by Eric Shanower about Diana visiting Julia Kapatelis' home for Christmas. Diana & Julia's sister both dealing with their own doubts, find strength in each other & the Holiday
Next is a silent, powerful Enemy Ace story with a shocking team of John Byrne writing & drawing & Andy Kubert with finishes
Next is another creative dream team of William Messner-Loebs & Colleen Doran & Ty Templeton in a Barry & Hal story where they try to help a rich old man find the meaning of Christmas. In the process they change his & well as several other people's lives in a very funny story
Next a Deadman story by Alan Brennert who literally cant write anything bad.Deadman having angst about not being able to interact with anyone is interrupted when a mysterious blonde woman talks to him. This is another that is just PHENOMENAL & I'll be posting the entirety of.(1/3)
Who could this mysterious Post-Crisis blonde woman be? How can she interact with Deadman? (2/3)
Boom! What a reveal!! The first time I read this, I was speechless. I had to set the comic down for a minute. Goosebumps, still!! One of the best comic stories ever made. Brilliant! Just so incredible. (3/3)
And that wraps up Christmas with the Super-Heroes 2! I fully recommend this as a must buy purchase. This along with Marvel Holiday Special 1, you cant go wrong
😮Im not worthy!
DCU Holiday Bash 1: Another extremely good jampacked one. Just look at those contents. For some reason, I ended up with a copy signed by Joe Rubenstein. I really like this one
