a Manic Monday. So it has been and will continue.
So far today:

A protester linked to InfoWars disrupted the start of the latest hearing in the impeachment inquiry. The House judiciary committee this week begins the stage of moving
from an inquiry to drawing up articles of impeachment against Donald Trump on the basis that he has abused his power in his dealings with Ukraine. There should be a vote to impeach from the House before Christmas.
News came through that the former Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker has died. He tackled galloping inflation in the eighties.
Trump will reportedly meet Russia’s foreign minister in Washington tomorrow.
An opinion poll put Trump ahead of Democratic rival Joe Biden in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, three key states in the 2020 election.
Trump poses “imminent threat” to US national security because of his dealings with Ukraine and how he’s handling the fall-out, the impeachment inquiry heard from the Democrats’ congressional counsel.
The Department of Justice internal watchdog found that the FBI was justified in opening the Trump-Russia investigation into collusion between Trump’s election campaign and Russian operatives in 2016, outweighing sloppy errors along the way.

ProPublica got its hands on records about a trip Trump Jr. took to Mongolia over the summer. Records and interviews confirmed that Trump killed an argali, an endangered species of large mountain sheep that have made their homes in a remote region of Western Mongolia.
The right to kill an argali is granted via an “opaque permitting system” that experts say require “money, connections and politics.”

Trump Jr. reportedly got a permit to kill an argali in September, after he left the region.

Today, Fiona Hill, Trump's senior Russia advisor, goes behind closed doors for deposition to committee chairs spearheading the #impeachment inquiry.
Today is also Amb. Gordon Sondland's deadline for requested records re: Ukraine.

I'm the survivor of an in-person death threat against me & my family, from a MAGA extremist who hated me just for who I am—I fear him or another carrying out those threats.

I'm an attorney—I fear the erosion of the rule of law.
I'm a patriot—I fear Russian interference in the 2020 election.

It's time I had my say about #Impeachment, DJT's obstructionistic tactics, and @SpeakerPelosi's not pushing for an inquiry yet.

When AG Barr released the redacted version of the report to Congress, he did *not* include any of the underlying documents on which Mueller relied.

Just like a lawsuit, a case has to be built based on facts and evidence. Both the Intelligence Committee and the Judiciary Committee have been working their way through the system, including voting to hold AG Barr in Contempt of Congress. DJT has been fighting them in court.

Meanwhile, the Ways and Means Committee has also been working on getting DJT's tax returns. One of the Committees has also been working on getting records subpoenaed from DJT's financial management firm and from Deutche Bank, known for Russian money laundering.

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.
