My political thoughts now. A strong opposition is critical to our constitutional system. All those opposed to the government - centrists, Blairites, social democrats, liberal left, green, might now want to think about (re)joining the main opposition party.

Enough to elect a leader with with wide appeal well beyond the current membership, radical vision, determination to deal decisively with the anti Semitism issue,
the talent to confront and take apart Johnson in the Commons and elsewhere (not that hard, but beyond some), and the ability to focus on priorities.
FPTP is a vicious system. But it’s there. And the only way of getting rid of it is to elect a government under the current system.
That means, almost certainly, a Labour (led) government.
(A lesson from 1992 on: the LDs only prosper when Labour is more or less acceptable to a broad swathe of moderate opinion.)
We need an opposition leader who can from day one look like a potential PM and frighten the Conservatives (who - for reasons apparent from my timeline - may well be tearing themselves up over Brexit within months).
So I shall be applying to rejoin the Labour Party the moment Corbyn utters the magic two words.
