Some folks not heavily involved w/ the fight have asked why we want to stop Enbridge from digging (on top of stopping the compressor itself). They don’t know the history of that bit of land, and they also don’t know @MassDEP is rubbish at actually protecting the environment. 1/n
@MassDEP The North Parcel should've been categorized as a superfund site long ago. The entire spit of land didn't exist b4 50 years of dumping industrial coal waste, which contains arsenic. Within that toxic mess are burner bricks. The farther they dig, the older the bricks. 2/
@MassDEP Older bricks means asbestos. Erosion of the “land” can be clearly seen at the cove side/low tide. Bricks have the name of the companies that made them inscribed. Quick google search shows you history of the company, & materials used. See this video:

@MassDEP Here's a pic we took at low tide in Sept. All of those rocks are industrial coal waste and burner bricks.
@MassDEP Here's a satellite image from 1969. Coal plant on left, industrial coal waste dump site on right. @TRC_Companies & @MassDEP would have us believe digging up the "soil" here is no big deal. We beg to disagree. We elves know 🐮💩 when we hear it, which is why we wear masks 5/n
@MassDEP @TRC_Companies We're freaked out because all of this easily available history, evidence, presence of toxic materials have been minimized/ignored by the co. Enbridge hired to manage the excavation, @TRC_Companies. Workers are digging in the finest arsenic history can produce 😖 w/ no masks 6/n
@MassDEP @TRC_Companies TRC is supposed to keep the toxic soil from being brought into our neighborhoods by cleaning the truck tires before they go into the street among other things. They are not.

We also haven't seen any workers take any pains to clean their vehicles' tires, their boots, either. 7/n
@MassDEP @TRC_Companies Any workers or @WeymouthPD on detail have zero protection from toxic soil as it's being dug up/ moved.

TRC barely tested the soil (they didn't go as deep as they knew they'd actually dig). TRC lied to @MassDEP about true dangers & DEP let them get away w/ it. 8/n
@MassDEP @TRC_Companies @WeymouthPD The workers bring home the arsenic & asbestos on their boots and clothes, skin, hair, gloves. The trucks going in and out of the North Parcel spread the toxins into our neighborhoods. Do you see why we are worried? 9/9
