Listening to @Keir_Starmer on #r4today railing against austerity, I wonder whether he might have a word with whoever was Director of Public Prosecutions in 2010, sitting silently by as the Crown Prosecution Service had its budget slashed by a 1/4 and its workforce cut by a third.
Worth adding this interview carried out upon his departure. Concerningly, he maintained that the cuts had had no effect on CPS performance. His employees would tell you something very different. civilserviceworld.com/interview-keir…
To save the accumulation of straw men in the replies, no this does not disqualify him from running. Nor does it mean he may not be the most suitable option. I just think it’s important to remind people that cuts to criminal justice matter. Bit of an obsession of mine.
