This is a ridiculous comparison. In Fast & Furious, the Obama admin turned over 7,600 pages of docs to Congress — Holder just disputed whether a certain tranche of internal memos was relevant to the probe.

Here, Trump is saying Congress has no right to ANY docs on ANYTHING.
And in the debunked IRS "scandal" the Obama admin willingly let everyone Republicans wanted to testify, testify, @TPCarney. Lois Lerner and John Koskinen sat for multiple interviews.

Trump has told WH officials, do not meet with Congress for anything, even if they subpoena you.
It's one thing to claim these scandals were worse for America than bribing a foreign power with military aid to dig up dirt on Joe Biden, @TPCarney. I disagree, as do virtually all legal experts. But that's at least an opinion.

It is a FACT Obama cooperated and Trump is not.

I feel like a lot of people don't understand the heart of the Johnson impeachment.

Johnson wasn't just impeached for trying to fire some Cabinet member. He undermined the rule of law by purging the govt of defense officials who were trying to fight white supremacist terrorism.
This is actually the only major point I disagree with @neal_katyal on in his otherwise excellent book "Impeach."

Katyal, like Turley, argues that while Johnson's actions were illegal, they didn't rise to a "high crime" — that is, they didn't fundamentally undermine the govt.
But Johnson's actions cannot be taken outside of the context of Reconstruction — of how the duly elected government had a mandate to expand Black civil rights, how paramilitaries like the KKK were killing freedmen to stop it, and how Johnson's explicit goal was to LET THEM DO IT.

This doesn't get stated enough.

If Trump really thought the Bidens were criminals, and he needed Ukraine's help to get evidence, he would have asked the FBI to contact the Ukrainian embassy under a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty. That is the proper channel for such a request.
What he would NOT have done is suspend military aid to Ukraine, then when President Zelensky asks if he can buy Javelins in a phone call, say "I would like you to do us a favor, talk to my private lawyer about the Bidens."
Republicans seem to be settling on the defense, "Well, this is just how Trump does things, he's unconventional and he's always skeptical of aid."

We need to impress upon people, this is way outside the boundaries of how a reasonable officer of the U.S. would use their power.

Janus was a nonsensical ruling on its face. The right-wing justices decided that non-political agency fees must be treated as political speech, but they didn't grant collective bargaining any of the rights associated with speech.
For instance, if every kind of union activity is speech — and therefore unconstitutional to compel agency fees to subsidize — that would imply anything that *restricts* collective bargaining is also unconstitutional as a restriction of speech.
That would imply a whole host of laws regulating how unions conduct their business are unconstitutional — bans on solidarity strikes, bans on lobbying municipal governments, restrictions on public employees conducting union business on the clock.

The justices are silent on this.
