Despite the pre-Christmas preparations, the majesty of the feast is now achieved. The family sits down but before we unleash the ravenous horde, the annual sing song of Tom Lehrer with the wee lad on the piano - ... it degenerates from here. Toodle pip.
Oh, and if you're not a fan of Tom Lehrer ... you are seriously missing out. As family anthems they are fabulous -
... and so the evening closes with the inevitable but never completed watching of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang accompanied with our very own kazoo band. Shattered and time for sleep. Tomorrow .... Star Wars.

Ah, I see the new narrative will be to blame the state (aka civil service) if brexit isn't marvellous ... of course, if it is marvellous then that will be entirely down to Gov of the day / Biz despite "the state" ... yawn.
... as one of those "reformists" behind the "better for less" paper (2010), it helps if people understand the importance of the civil service and why "business" and the imported dogma of outsourcing had created a mess ...
... critical in improving Gov are two key components - transparency and challenge - which is why Spend Control is so important.

Gearing up a narrative of "let us blame the state if brexit fails" is such a #facepalm

When building any large system (i.e. > £100k) then spend a couple of hours mapping it, split it into small components and use appropriate methods ...
... do NOT try and use a single method across all the components (whether agile or six sigma)
... do NOT try and use large contracts or LOTs that span multiple boundaries (i.e. mix in genesis with commodity)

Me : Yes, open approaches can be used to deliberately change markets in certain directions. It's an extremely powerful system if used correctly.
X : Correctly?
Me : Yes.
X : Details?
Me : Ok. Many think that by opening something up you will get free resources to work on your stuff.
X : Does that happen?
Me : No. That's just blathering execs going "open" probably because they read it in some equally mindless HBR / McKinsey / Biz school report.
Me : To effectively use open then you have to have reason (open by thinking), investment (resources and time) and passion (a true desire to make it happen and to lead others). The throw it out there, create a foundation and magic will happen is fairly delusional.

I feel like I'm on the naughty list with now the last few years have gone. I'm homeless again through no fault of my own. I wish for a motel all warm and filled with light. That I may not be cold on christmas eve and night. either way thank you and happy x-mas.

With 1 room left that's 10$ cheaper. So that's my christmas wish . I know the holidays are hard for everyone honestly I wish we could just crash with family. But they are at capacity because times are hard for everyone this time of year. And sleeping in the Walmart parking lot

In 2017 I watched 31 versions of A Christmas Carol during December (one for each day) and I am finally ready to tell you the results. (a thread)
I sorted them into 2 broad categories, full length movies vs television episodes. There were 26 full length movies and 5 television episodes.
At the time money was a bit tight so I tried to find as many versions as I could for free. 14 were available at my local library, 10 were borrowed from friends, and the rest were found either streaming ( 4) and 3 I rented.

The kinda scenario I always imagine because I'm obsessed with it. Person A tying to "buy" person B. But person B isn't "up for sale". Person A is just that powerful. One of many instances where I've thought about it.
Person A.
- Undercover server
- Crime (petty crime, small scale)

Person B.
- Undercover detective(?)
- Private, freelance
- A man of questionable morals
Person B and his friend are chilling in the lounge getting a read on the setting, aka ogling the workers.
Person B calls over Person A.
His friend nudges him, "I don't think he's a dancer."
Person B waves him off.
Person A approaches and asks what he can do for them.
