What is interesting is the trouble he has parsing this tweet (yes it's a weird feeling having philosophers and psychologists pick over your year old tweets...) 
Why did I say "men" here?
And is awkward? ...I don't think so. It follows the previous sentence where I say men can't turn into women. It would weird then to introduce a another category (even if in social situations I wouldn't try to hurt anyone's feelings by saying so)

Why did I say "men"?
Because we are all know the pattern whereby women & girls (& society) put men's feelings & ego ahead of their own comfort, safety & progress. It's what male / female socialisation is all about
