Huge Howell’s decision ordering the disclosure of the Mueller materials was wrong. He claimed that courts don’t have the authority to order the disclosure of grand jury materials, the House has no “particularized need” for the materials and that an impeachment hearing is not a
“judicial proceeding.” Letter shot down all three of those arguments and I predict judge Howell’s ruling will be affirmed (though perhaps with one judge dissenting - Judge Rao, a recent Trump appointee). Then, it’s off to the Supreme Court for more delay. I have to add ...
the following observations: as a 30-year federal prosecutor, I was saddened & angered by Freeman’s arguments. Why? It was painfully transparent that Freeman’s arguments had nothing to do with enforcing the laws of our country or promoting ethics, honor and decency in government.
Freeman’s arguments were designed solely to support and protect the president in furtherance of covering up his crimes and abuses, which are extensively documented in volume II of the Mueller report. This perversion to the mission of the Department of Justice breaks my heart.
I so look forward to the day - coming soon - when we have a law-abiding president and a law-enforcing AG so we can again do what is right and fair and just for and on behalf of the American people.
