House Judiciary Chair Nadler announced they're filing an application in the DC federal district court seeking grand jury material from Mueller's probe. Note the DC Circuit recently issued a decision that narrowed judges' authority to unseal grand jury info
Now, this DC Circuit case isn't totally on point — it involves a request for "historically significant" materials going back to the 1950s — but the notion that the bar is exceptionally high for courts to approve disclosure of grand jury material is relevant
(On July 22, the DC Circuit rejected a request to reconsider this grand jury unsealing case en banc)
Here's the rule that lists the circumstances when a court can consider authorizing disclosure of grand jury materials — it's pretty narrow, and the DC Circuit's opinion holds that courts have no authority outside of this rule to disclose GJ info
