For all of those who continue to have absorbed the legend of Rommel the "worthy adversary" from late-night History Channel documentaries: Erwin Rommel was a terrible person who facilitated genocide and wasn't actually involved in the plot against Hitler.

It cannot be emphasized enough that Bret Stephens is the laziest columnist writing for a major publication in the United States today.
His latest masterpiece justifying the assassination of Suleimani goes out of its way to praise Erwin Rommel as a "worthy adversary."

A couple of things here.
One, it's abundantly clear that Stephens does not know what he's talking about. Troops under Rommel's command murdered Jews in North Africa.

I'm going to say a few words about this letterpress bundle I am creating. It's not late-night for me yet, but it's gloomy outside, so here's a late-night thread in the afternoon.
The world is terrible right now, friends. It's painful to be on Twitter. It's painful to be on social media. It's painful to be.

I've been carving linoleum blocks.
When I was in school, I did book arts on the side. This was my outlet. Bookbinding, marbled papers, block prints.

I could not do any of that for a decade. My arm was not functional to carve. My depression was too much. I did not have a setup for anything arts-related.

#History/#Art thread – From my recent trip to Madurai/Tirunelveli. On Jain sites (some with a rich history dating back to at least the 3rd cent. BCE), early Pandyan rock-cut cave temples (7th-8th cent. CE) & the amazing Vettuvan koil.

Before I start on the places, the history around all this is fascinating & splits opinion. Is it apt to call the script Tamili/Tamil Brahmi? Did it develop independently in the Tamil country/come with the Jain monks from the north? Were 8,000 Jains actually impaled in Madurai?>
