The core of the issue with Iran is that there are a number of people and organizations, well-funded, that will do anything to maintain a state of hostility with Iran. Many of them desire a war. 1/
We have no baseline to know how Iran would act if it were not provoked by this group. The closest we came was with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. They fought fiercely against the JCPOA. 2/
Iran was protective of its sovereignty but willing to accommodate much of the world's concern about its nuclear program. It's going to be hard to get that back. 3/
Trump and the New York Times have been heavily influenced by that anti-Iran lobby. The Times now quotes FDD and the Institute for Science and International Security almost exclusively in its articles about Iran. 4/
Those people are willing to lie and attack their opponents viciously. This article recalled to me their attacks and lies as the JCPOA was being developed. 5/
