- Not having legally garaunteed financial and professional services access to the EU is the default state of affairs for countries fully outside the Single Market, including those with EU FTAs;
- "Taking Back Control" is a two way street.
Not garaunteeing the UK access in an FTA doesn't mean the City loses it all overnight, or even at all.
What it means is that EU regulators retain the right to limit or withdraw that access going forward.
Keep an eye out for people appalled by this who spent the last three years threatening to bring the EU to its knees by holding the German car industry hostage in some magical way.
