What a fascinating rewriting of Page's history with the Kremlin this is. The FBI made errors in processing its paperwork on Page, including an act of grave malfeasance, but if you think Page is a good guy with clean hands you've done *no* research on who he is, or what he's done.
1/ The FBI found & Page admitted he gave nonpublic info to men he knew were Kremlin spies. The FBI told him to be careful: he'd been targeted for recruitment. Months later he was describing himself in a letter as a "Kremlin adviser." Then he gave anti-American speeches in Moscow.
2/ Page went to Moscow in summer 2016 and secretly met with Kremlin officials. How do we know? Because he told us? No. He came back and lied on-air multiple times about who he met. Then *finally* he conceded it, while blaming the FBI for everything that had ever happened to him.
3/ I'm pretty sure I've never called Page a criminal. And have a very high bar for calling someone a "traitor." But is he a liar? Absolutely. Broadly disloyal to America? Certainly. Did he cause *himself* to be put in the middle of the Russia scandal? You bet your *ass* he did.
4/ So yeah, the FBI should *never* violate proper procedures and *needs* to get its act together.
