PS/ I find it as significant that the conversation within the administration about assassinating Soleimani started shortly after Trump entered office in 2017, underscoring it was part of his Iran policy from the beginning, that is, right after UAE helped him gain the White House.
PS2/ What I'll say is the idea McMaster was the first to bring it up is well beyond improbable. This would have come from Flynn either during the campaign, in the transition, or in the first weeks of the administration, especially as we know it came from Prince in September 2015.
IMPORTANT/ As discussed in Proof of Conspiracy, after advising Trump to kill Soleimani in September 2015, UAE agent Erik Prince was involved in clandestine presidential transition meetings in which Iran policy was discussed with (variously) MBZ and the head of Saudi intelligence.
IMPORTANT2/ Ask anyone who's written extensively on this administration: this is not an idea McMaster would've floated first. This would've been Flynn era, arising during the period Nader, Bannon, Prince, Flynn, Kushner, and foreign nationals were deciding how to take down Iran.
IMPORTANT3/ Either way, this assassination was on the board from the start of the presidency, and was ordered after a drone was shot down, OK, but the history of Trump's Iran policy suggests his new UAE pact was what would've taken his maximum pressure campaign to the next level.
