BIG development to watch in the presidential race over next few months: It's not lost on my old colleagues in the health
insurance industry that the M4A candidates Sanders & Warren now lead in Iowa. Trust me, this is a 4 alarm fire for the industry (1/9)
Fear of these candidates means we’re about to see the mother of all
propaganda campaigns against them. A big clue has just arrived, with
the Chamber of Commerce saying it's launching a new blitz as Iowa
approaches. I'll explain why this is so big... (2/9)

The US Chamber of Commerce is not to be confused with your local
Chamber. It's one of DC's biggest pay-for-play outfits and some of its
richest members are insurance & health care giants. Give enough cash
and the Chamber will shill for you. I know from first-hand experience

10 years ago, the industry secretly funneled $100m to the Chamber to
finance a propaganda campaign against the bill that became Obamacare. The industry poured $ into the Chamber so it could publicly pretend to support reform while quietly bankrolling the campaign against it (4/9)
Keep in mind, this was money Americans paid in premiums, under the mistaken assumption it would be used to cover their medical bills.
Instead, it funded a campaign designed to protect industry profits and deny users better care. Buckle up. The same thing is about to happen.

If it seems like I'm making too much of the Chamber entering this fight, look at its board of directors. You'll see the biggest names in insurance and health care, like Abbot, Anthem, Bayer and Pfizer. You won't find many small businesses in the mix. (6/9)

You can expect the Chamber to work hand-in-glove with the industry's
front group, the @P4AHCF, to
develop an anti-Medicare for All strategy that targets Sanders &
Warren very soon. The sheer size and scope of this will be striking.

Reporters might wish to keep a close eye on the flow of money from the
industry into the Chamber, and how that money is spent. The public
never would have known how the industry laundered that $100m ten years ago if not for investigative journalists. (8/9)

As someone on the "inside" for decades, trust me: The industry will
spend whatever it takes to crush pols who push major health reform. The industry sees these candidates as mortal threats. Not because their proposals hurt consumers, but because of exactly the opposite.
