1. Extremists groups descending on Virginia today are using Facebook to promote violence.

Facebook took no action until I reached out for comment.

Even then, Facebook's response has been incomplete and haphazard.

2. Joshua Shoaff, the leader of American Warrior Revolution, posted a video to Facebook on December 13 announcing he was coming to Richmond and arguing an African-American legislator in Virginia should be lynched.

3. After being contacted by Popular Information last Friday, Facebook removed the video and Shoaff's personal account.

But they left up the American Warrior Revolution Page which has 540K followers

4. Facebook told me they had taken down the 2nd video on Friday. But it was up until Sunday evening, when it had already amassed about 10,000 views

1. I'd just like to note that this explanation is completely illogical

Rubio says even assuming the allegations against Trump are true but won't impeach because the people should decide

But how are people supposed to decide since Rubio also opposes subpoenaing witnesses?
2. You can make Rubio's argument that it's a case that should be decided by voters but he acknowledges here that all the facts are not out. Voters will not be able to subpoena Bolton. The Senate can.
3. Perhaps the dumbest argument is that Rubio won't support impeachment because it is partisan but of course if he (and Alexander, who made a similar argument) supported impeachment it wouldn't be partisan

1. Let's talk about Facebook's earnings call yesterday and how it relates to the company's inability or unwillingness to effective combat political misinformation on the platform.

Because it really explains everything.
2. Facebook announced that it made $7.3 BILLION in PROFIT over the last three months.

You could spend just a tiny fraction of that and make a pretty serious dent in the political misinformation problem.

But the company won't do it. Why?
3. Despite the obscene profits, which are up year-over-year, Facebook stock is down significantly today. (Almost 7% at the moment.)

Why?

Investors are concerned that "expenses" are rising too quickly.

That's a critical dynamic.

Dershowitz just revealed the absurdity of the Trump defense.

He argued that Trump believes his election is in the public interest and therefore if he uses his power to help his reelection - by pressuring a foreign government to investigate his opponent - that's not impeachable
"Every public official that I know believes that his election is in the public interest... If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment."
Nixon used the power of the presidency to cover up the Watergate burglary because if voters found out his aides were involved it would damage his reelection chances. Since Nixon believed his reelection was in the public interest, the cover up was not impeachable.

Responsible gun owners don't threaten civil war at the idea of gun control legislation, don't threaten to harm/shoot/lynch legislators whom they disagree with and don't encourage others to act in such a manner.
Dottie complains about death threats yet supports others that do.
On a day that we *should* be honoring the historical efforts to bring peace and justice to African Americans through PEACEFUL PROTEST in the U.S. we have a legislator with her eyes on promoting violence, dissent and even hate groups descending upon Virginia's State Capitol today.
A few facts:
• Americans make up 4 percent of the world's population but own about *46 percent* of the entire global stock of 857 million civilian firearms.
• American civilians own more guns than those held by civilians in the other top 25 countries combined.

KILL BOX ALLERT- VIRGINIA: Northam's Gun-Free Kill Zone by James G. Robertson. The political battle lines have been drawn over Virginia governor Ralph Northam's declaration of an emergency kill zone on the Capitol grounds for Lobby Day, Jan. 20.
As of Friday night, after a Virginia district court rejected a legal challenge to the governor's gun ban, the ban appears to be in place, unless a last-ditch appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court can succeed in overturning the ban this weekend.
As it stands, an area bounded by 9th, Broad, Bank, and Governor streets around the Richmond Capitol has been declared an emergency gun-free zone. One section of the appeal to the Supreme Court argues:

1/ About the digital right-wing troll attack on liberal accounts today/tonight through the "Lib Slayer Operation" (I am purposefully avoiding their hashtag):

=> I have done the basic homework, blocked the list passed on to me but I investigated further
2/ All accounts are fairly small and troll-type. The content is shallow, ignorant, typical uneducated white nationalist anger. What does that mean?
=> horizontal, anarchic action
=> organizational fringe (folks that satelize extremist organizations but ...
3/ ... don't actually have hard ties to them. It's the American white nationalist MO: it's inefficient, but works by critical mass volume)

👁‍🗨Today isn’t the first time Patrick Byrne has told his story, he reached out to Butina’s lawyers last month and it paints a more complete picture. This letter to @TheJusticeDept @JusticeOIG and OPR was sent July 25th and it’s alarming if true.

For background the judge told DOJ they HAD to disclose Brady material to her lawyers, they claimed there was none.
This is important because her lawyers argued she was baited by an intel source and they even argued it WAS Byrne because he was a government informant. THIS WAS FLATLY DENIED

Incoming: Friday afternoon #Facebook / #GDPR tweetstorm, because this week has been pretty deflating for us #privacy wonks.

If you're European, you probably got an email from FB this week, with this subject line:

"X, please accept our updated Terms by May 25 to continue using Facebook."

Now, let's talk about how non-compliant that subject line is. It suggest that failing to accept the new terms will result in account suspension. That's a problem.
#GDPR requires consent to be "freely given" and says that services can't be withheld just because the consumer doesn't consent to ALL THE TRACKING.

The last line of the email is "Please go to Facebook to review and accept the Terms" which reinforces the subject line threat.
