I just heard this awful news: Lina was a vital and powerful feminist. I met her years ago and interviewed her in Tunis for a documentary I made with @gemmanewby for the BBC on women and the revolutions in our region. Rest in power, Lina. We will miss you.

#Sheith Months ago I was telling server folks about an au idea I had where Keith was a professional Dom at a dungeon and he had a group of friends who met up at the yarn store that Allura worked at and they had like, kinksters knit and crochet time.
So naturally, Shiro wanders in because his doctor recommended picking up knitting to improve his manual dexterity and Allura invites him to the group because Keith has been single for too long and she knows he needs some of that.

Just want to put it out there that something that makes it possible for @Ravelry to make a big move like this is the early 00’s knitting revival coming from Debbie Stoller, of Bust magazine, and her aimed at late Gen X Stitch n Bitch series.
The knitting revival was already happening, but SnB made it appealing to young people who were also into punk rock and the internet, an extension of DIY culture - also exactly why I had interest in it.
That it was married to early feminist internet culture is important, because that’s the culture that Ravelry sprang from and what makes up a majority of their audience.
