Pam Bondi is currently on the Senate floor defending President Trump from accusations of wrongdoing. Let's take a trip down memory lane and remember the story of Trump, Bondi and an apparent $25,000 bribe. citizensforethics.org/trump-foundati…
From February 2008 to May 2011, Bondi's Office of the Attorney General in Florida received at least 22 complaints about Trump University & related entities. Following a 2013 suit by the NY AG, Bondi's office told the Orlando Sentinel “We are currently reviewing the allegations.”
Four days after the Sentinel ran its story, The Donald J. Trump Foundation made a $25,000 contribution to And Justice for All, a political group backing Bondi. The donation, illegal for a 501(c)(3) private foundation to give, was personally solicited from Trump by Bondi.
It's important to note that back in 2013 the Tampa Bay Times reported that And Justice for All acknowledged receiving the contribution from the Trump Foundation. Remember that, we'll come back to it.
Despite previously acknowledging the 22 complaints to reporters, internal emails show Bondi's office's employees weeded out any complaint about Trump Institute and related entities to claim there was only one complaint against Trump University.
In its 2013 taxes, the Trump Foundation claims it made no donations to political entities and replaces And Justice for All with a different, similarly named group in Kansas to which they would legally be allowed to donate.
Ok, here's where we come in: on March 21, 2016, CREW filed its first IRS complaint against the Trump Foundation for making the illegal political donation. citizensforethics.org/press-release/…
The next day, Trump representatives admit to the illegal donation, blaming an increasing series of clerical errors.

Trump campaign claimed the Trump Org was solicited by Bondi, misidentified the group associated with her as a charity in Utah, cut a check from the Trump Foundation to the Utah group, sent it to the Florida group , then confused it with a Kansas anti-abortion group on its taxes
They went on to claim they only found out that the money went to Bondi's Florida group after our complaint, despite well publicized comments from Donald Trump acknowledging the donation to support Bondi in 2013.
CREW then filed complaints against Bondi for potentially violating the law by failing to investigate or take legal action regarding complaints against Trump U after her affiliated political organization received a contribution from the Trump Foundation. citizensforethics.org/legal-filing/c…
The more we look at the Trump Foundation, the more we find: CREW filed an IRS complaint against the Foundation for acting as a prop for the Trump campaign through its engagement in campaign events, including payments to groups that came to campaign rallies citizensforethics.org/press-release/…
Sept. 1, 2016: Following CREW’s discovery that the Trump Foundation didn't file an updated 990 tax form, the Washington Post discovered a $2,500 IRS penalty paid by the Foundation for the illegal donation, kicking off one of the biggest stories of the year citizensforethics.org/news/trump-pay…
A week later, CREW filed a second IRS complaint against Trump and the Foundation for the donation, calling for an investigation into whether it was used to provide a private benefit to Trump and for an investigation into Trump for engaging in self-dealing. citizensforethics.org/press-release/…
CREW then filed criminal bribery complaints against Trump and Bondi with the DOJ and called for a criminal investigation into whether the Trump Foundation broke federal criminal law by making numerous false reports to the IRS on its tax forms. citizensforethics.org/press-release/…
CREW filed its third and final IRS complaint against Trump after it appears that he repeatedly broke the law by using the Trump Foundation for his personal benefit by making multiple payments and grants for the private benefit of Trump and his business. citizensforethics.org/press-release/…
On December 24, 2016, Trump announced he will shut down the Trump Foundation in the light of the growing scandal. citizensforethics.org/press-release/…
Three years later, a judge orders Trump to pay a $2 million judgment for improperly using the Trump Foundation to further his 2016 presidential campaign nbcnews.com/politics/donal…
Which brings us to today, and Pam Bondi--they woman he apparently bribed to stop an investigation into him--on the Senate floor trying to stop an investigation into Donald Trump
