1. I expect many disciplinary actions against Pasquale Cipollone but the other people who have to worry are the attorneys who knew of his conflict and didn't report him. Eg Emmet Flood.

1. I spotted the mortgage meltdown coming when, in 2006, I was involved in a Delaware Bankruptcy that exposed the mortgage-backed securities underwriting flaws. As a Bankruptcy lawyer I detected how banks soon turned from securitizing underwater houses to securitizing our kids.
2. The fix for the #schoolloannightmare is to change the Bankruptcy Code. It's just some text in section 11 USC 523. Some lenders may struggle. We can deal with that. Let everyone who needs it have a fresh start. @BernieSanders @ewarren @JoeBiden #IowaCaucuses
3. Schools will have to adjust to a world where they can't depend on their students going into excessive debt. The ones who do will survive. The ones who don't will fail.

1. My parents went to the Chinese Civil war on their honeymoon & lived in it for three years. I was raised by liberal Democrats who in 1947 did not necessarily consider Russians the enemy. After China American foreign policy was run by the Dulles boys. We dug in & so did they.
2. My father died in 1962 when I was 9. We moved back from St. Louis to my parents' home towns on the Connecticut river in Western Mass. A Five-College college town. Lefty heaven. @UMassAmherst had a Marxist chair of its Economics Dept. My mother worked in admin. I went there.
3. I went back years later to finish my degree and had an anarchist professor for legal studies. I've worked on campaigns all my life. Since childhood. I am very much a liberal but it would never occur to me to vote for a socialist. But I did. 1st non-democrat I've ever voted for

I checked DC US Attorney page and they still have Jessie K. Liu as US Attorney on the DC web page. My brother held the title in Clinton DOJ that Barr's replacement Tim Shea is reported to hold. One thing about it when my brother held it: Attorney-client privilege with the AG.
I looked at his background. Don't see any prior criminal law background or trial practices. He practices state regulatory law. If you wanted to take away power of state AG's to regulate you might hire him. He's like the anti-@ewarren. Are there a lot of consumer cases in DC?

Every one of the last five presidents--that's 31 years--has come into office insisting that America was overextended militarily & internationally, and that we needed to be more modest in our engagements and bring our troops home.
Reality has a way of intruding. And sophisticated voters should know better than to believe such sentiments, regardless of which party is expressing them.
There are very good reasons why the world has needed America to stand up and intervene from the time that we first had the capability to do so. The world would be a very different place had America not intervened.

1/ This is an interesting topic, although sorrounded by many hurdles & controversial standpoints that need to be resolved by all stakeholders.

2/ However beautiful this appears from the outside, this is probably the toughest task of the century, which also if accomplished will solve almost every problem we have in Northern Nigeria, to an extent. Some of the salient questions we all need to deliberate on & solve are:
3/ Will the current school system be able to contain the almost 10 million Almajiris we have? Considering the fact that almost all of them can neither read nor write, how do they get integrated into the system? Are they going to pass through a phase before getting integrated?

This Day in Labor History: August 3, 1981. The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) goes on strike in the single greatest disaster in American labor history after Reagan fires them all. Let's talk about this horror show.
This is going to be a long thread. So let's start with the summary. Reagan is evil. But PATCO really dug their own grave here. This was a complex situation, but the union deserves LOTS of blame. Why? They had no interest in solidarity with other unions. Or anyone.
Second, if you really want to know all the in and outs of the PATCO strike, you simply have to read @JosephMcCartin's great book Collision Course. Most of what I draw on here--and in Chapter 9 of A History of America in Ten Strikes--comes from this.

Many people don't know that John McCain held onto the fake Russian dossier about Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign because he was sure that Hillary was going to win. The fake Russian dossier paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign was an insurance policy in (1)
case Donald Trump won. When he did, John McCain released it and conspired to bring President Trump down after the election. It was PROVEN FAKE and it led to a fake FISA Warrant to investigate members of the DT campaign. John McCain is NOT a hero, he is a TRAITOR!!!!
