I checked DC US Attorney page and they still have Jessie K. Liu as US Attorney on the DC web page. My brother held the title in Clinton DOJ that Barr's replacement Tim Shea is reported to hold. One thing about it when my brother held it: Attorney-client privilege with the AG.
I looked at his background. Don't see any prior criminal law background or trial practices. He practices state regulatory law. If you wanted to take away power of state AG's to regulate you might hire him. He's like the anti-@ewarren. Are there a lot of consumer cases in DC?

1. I spotted the mortgage meltdown coming when, in 2006, I was involved in a Delaware Bankruptcy that exposed the mortgage-backed securities underwriting flaws. As a Bankruptcy lawyer I detected how banks soon turned from securitizing underwater houses to securitizing our kids.
2. The fix for the #schoolloannightmare is to change the Bankruptcy Code. It's just some text in section 11 USC 523. Some lenders may struggle. We can deal with that. Let everyone who needs it have a fresh start. @BernieSanders @ewarren @JoeBiden #IowaCaucuses
3. Schools will have to adjust to a world where they can't depend on their students going into excessive debt. The ones who do will survive. The ones who don't will fail.

1. My parents went to the Chinese Civil war on their honeymoon & lived in it for three years. I was raised by liberal Democrats who in 1947 did not necessarily consider Russians the enemy. After China American foreign policy was run by the Dulles boys. We dug in & so did they.
2. My father died in 1962 when I was 9. We moved back from St. Louis to my parents' home towns on the Connecticut river in Western Mass. A Five-College college town. Lefty heaven. @UMassAmherst had a Marxist chair of its Economics Dept. My mother worked in admin. I went there.
3. I went back years later to finish my degree and had an anarchist professor for legal studies. I've worked on campaigns all my life. Since childhood. I am very much a liberal but it would never occur to me to vote for a socialist. But I did. 1st non-democrat I've ever voted for

I think @SenateDems have the power to totally jam up the trial with motions that could go on for weeks if they really wanted to. I think this is a smart thing to just take the weekend off. In three days everything will be different with the speed at which news is breaking.

Gross, of District Heights, Md., pled guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to making a false statement.
