3. Even the director of NIAID had said this before: “There’s no doubt after reading [the NEJM] paper that asymptomatic transmission is occurring,” director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told journalists. “This study lays the question to rest.”
4. And yes this is VERY GOOD NEWS! If a virus🦠 spreads person to person only after one develops symptoms, this will help public health containment so much easier, and remove so much uncertainty. I’m so glad for this announcement in correcting the record. Let’s all be forgiving🙏
5. I deeply respect the courage of the virologist who came forward to correct the record. Honesty, transparency and willingness to admit fault and correct is worth a lot. As they say, “To err is human; to correct, divine.” Let’s be ever thoughtful, compassionate, & have empathy.
6. However, NIAID Director Fauci still believes in asymptomatic transmission. "I telephoned (a colleague) in China who is a highly respected infectious diseases scientist and health official, (who said) he is convinced... that some asymptomatic people are transmitting infection."
