In light of the president’s disgusting comments yesterday and this piece of vileness, I will just reiterate that I am proud to call both @NatSecLisa and @petestrzok friends. I admire both of them. And I will say this again and again as long they are being stigmatized.

So there.
The goal of this sort of campaign is to render people untouchable: socially and professionally. It is to make people fear association with them. It is to create tribal identification around their exile.

I’m not willing to participate in that—or to be influenced by it.
I am not interested it your “but they did xx” or “but they did yy.” Most of the time, they didn’t do xx or yy. And even where they erred, their errors are so eclipsed by the presidentially-led campaign of defamation against them that I choose not to dignify it with engagement.
I am also not interested in the relentless stream of bot activity that will follow this tweet thread sliming them further, making vile insinuations about treason and telling about the cell in Guantanamo with my name on it.
They are people. Real people.

Like Alexander Vindman is a real person. Like Masha Yovanovich is a real person. Like William Taylor is a real person.
We need to resist the non-personing of real people.

Don't think about it too hard. Your heart knows this is right.
This isn't a game. It's not okay. And it would be a good thing if someone running for the office of president would have the moral courage to say a word about it.
That's all I got.
This broke while I was writing the thread above:
