It is absolutely right for @WHO to have declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Countries, public health teams and researchers worldwide have been acting on this with the very highest level of concern for the last few weeks. @DrTedros
But this virus has spread at unprecedented scale and speed, with cases passing between people in multiple countries across the world. Declaration of an international emergency will undoubtedly sharpen governments’ focus on protecting citizens.
But we must also step-up as an international community to make sure no one is left behind - with all interventions, including public health measures, diagnostics, treatments and vaccines available to everyone.

Commitment of all teams to patients,families,communities & to do whatever it takes to bring epidemic to an end with approach that is trusted & locally led is remarkable teams that are often away from their families in really tough conditions-the world owes them all a huge amount

#China national Zoulin Cai AKA Allen Cai of California was arrested today & indicted for selling counterfeit laptop batteries & electronics via Amazon & Ebay.

Some of those batteries started smoking & almost caught fire. Reminds me of all those "hoverboards" that caught fire.
He was living in Los Angeles and worked for Chinese company Shenzhen Theseus Technology Co. Ltd. His relatives owned Theseus Technology, which actually made the counterfeit lithium ion batteries.
Cai and his family made $23.8 million selling the counterfeits from 2014 to 2019 and laundered the earnings to Chinese bank accounts in the name of Theseus Technology and other Chinese business which were unnamed.

Over the past 20 years, China has made tremendous progress in improving its military capabilities, but its modernization program will remain a work in progress in the decade to come.
China trails the US in terms of nuclear attack submarines, aerial refueling & amphibious capacity. Beijing will continue to develop its capabilities on these fronts, but based on current projections, it will not reach parity with the US by 2030.
