To understand how propaganda on the internet works you have to understand how search engines work. But simply put, they use key words to match your search to content published online. It's really that simple.
You may very well be for forgiven for not realising that right at this very minute, the First Minister @NicolaSturgeon is in brussels at the European commission discussing the future of Scotland with relation to the EU.
Why? Because the media is focusing a massive amount of energy on a non-story about the projected sign on the side of the European commission building on the 31st of Jan.
Indeed, outlets like the Express have actually lied in their articles with respect to that particular light display (the express are now actually under investigation by IPSO for those falsehoods which were repeated today in the non-story about a police report that didn't happen.
But why are the media going with a non-story of a police report, possible report, no police report story about projection bombing. Well, the reason is quite simple. All articles with relation to this non-story include the words "Nicola Sturgeon" and "European Commission"
The other story of the day.....@NicolaSturgeon AT the European Commission also contains the words "Nicola Sturgeon" and ironically, "European Commission". In other words, this stupid non-story is being DELIBERATELY used by tory supporting media outlets to push.....
the results for articles going through what Nicola is currently doing in Brussels at the European Commission. How do they do this? Well in simple terms, they publish a non-story that we all know to be just a waste of column inches. What happens? Everyone reacts to it....
More so than a complex and slighly boring (but extremely important meeting between the First Minister of the country and the European Commission). The search engines rank the non-story as "more popular" than the very important one and the key words being the same....
well this is what happens when you search for information on Nicola Sturgeons meeting in Brussels right now when you type her name and European Commission.
And you might think "well what's the big deal exactly?". Well, I will tell you. The press are supposed to disseminate important information so the electorate is well informed. THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DELIBERATELY ASSIST IN THE POLITICAL SUPPRESSION OF EXTREMELY IMPORTANT..
....CONSTITUTIONAL MATTERS WITH RELATION TO THE FUTURE OF EVERY PERSON IN SCOTLAND TO SERVE A CONSERVATIVE AGENDA OF MAKING OUT THAT THE FACT THERE IS NOW A MAJORITY IN SUPPORT OF INDEPENDENCE IS NO BIG DEAL..........BECAUSE IT IS!

1. Stop tweeting about the damn projector story; and
2. Tweet out as many articles on the FM's meeting as you can find........quickly!
