Important: I’ve deleted an earlier tweet that I’d shared (quoting a Shaheen Bagh handle) about tear/CS gas being used at Jamia

While the story has been told by multiple students, there hasn’t been any official news report yet.

Reached out to @DelhiPolice but they won’t talk.
As of now, it’s mighty unclear.

There’s a report by one protestor present on the spot on Facebook with pictures but the incident remains unverified by the press/Delhi Police

The Assam NRC data suddenly vanishing from the website (& the lack of data security) is incredibly shady.

I've filed an RTI with the NIC specifically asking about details of the contract with Wipro, name of the cloud service provider, & all contracts signed for hosting this. ImageImage
Update: Wipro, incidentally, claims that it established a huge fluid data centre in Guwahati where the NRC data for the entire state was stored.

How on earth, then, did this data get on to a cloud service where it went offline?

Who authorized this - the NIC or the Assam Govt.? Image

What's even murkier is that govt-owned NIC has its own cloud service called Meghraj.

Why the hell was the Assam NRC data stored on the Amazon AWS cloud when a domestic govt-owned option was freely available? Image

Here's one way of stalling the roll-out of the NRC:

I've filed an RTI with the MEITY (which runs Digital India) asking how many birth certificates have been digitized across various states under this program.

I've also asked from which year digitization has been done.

Birth certificate is a conclusive proof of citizenship for the NRC according to the govt.

However, if the govt. itself doesn't have digitized copies of birth certificates, how will it give duplicate copies to those that have lost it/don't have it?

I'll be filing a similar request with the Maharashtra Govt.

What I'd like from some of u is to file a similar request with ur respective state govt.

If the govt. doesn't have ALL birth certificates digitized, there's no way it can expect citizens to have a copy.

Here’s to the small group of people hammering that the letter given to me by @DelhiPolice is “not a permission” & that they trust their word over me:

The letter was given to me on Sat. 1 Feb at 5pm. Despite asking for a permission letter, they merely gave me this.

Officers that can confirm this:

1. PSI Bahadur Singh from Parliament St. Police Station who sits at the chowky at Jantar Mantar.

2. ACP Baljit Singh Rana from the HAX cell who confirmed the permission & later asked me if I can postpone it to after the 8th

.@DCPNewDelhi tweeted later in the evening stating “no permission was granted”.

None of those questioning me have bothered to ask the DCP why the permission was refused & on what grounds.

Was it because the slogan is not allowed? If so, that was the WHOLE POINT.

Moving forward to Shaheen Bagh from Kalandikunj Metro station, this is the same route which is closed and has become an headache for many daily Noida-Delhi commuters. Will keep you updated.
This is the Kalindi Kunj Bus Stop which has been completely destroyed by so called peaceful protestors. Remember AAP is backing all this.
As I move towards protest site, We can see this. Irony is that who say ‘Goli M**o Saalo Ko’ is uncivilised language are supporting this. The so called intellectuals have used such disgraceful language for PM Modi.

#Jamia matters to be heard by the Chief Justice's Bench of Delhi High Court soon. Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves mentions the matter concerning the release of detained students which was transferred from the Single Judge Bench.
CJ DN Patel says it would be taken up.
Counsel says the police entered into the campus. One student has suffered gunshot injury which the police has denied, One student has lost his eye.
