I want to share some good news with my followers. You might have seen me complaining about how hard volunteer tax preparer training was this year and questioning whether I should continue. But there's a real need, so I decided I'd stick it out at least for now. When I went 1/5
in this morning I was not in a good mental state because of a couple of relatives' health issues. But after I did a return and checked another volunteer's work and found an error and felt a little better and then I did a return for a woman who just recently has been 2/5
declared disabled but was getting the run-around about what sort of medical coverage she was eligible for. I told her she happened to get the right tax preparer, because I've helped a relative through the process to apply for disability and so I know a lot more than 3/5
the average person about disability issues. Not only was I able to prepare her return, I was able to give her a list of resources for food assistance and helped her begin the application process for Medicaid and when she mentioned she was hungry and could she have some 4/5
of the snacks we had out, I gave her the choice of those or the granola bars and fruit strips I had brought with me. She was so happy to have a healthy granola bar! I'm so glad I went in today. 5/5
