OK, here's what needs to happen: @RepJerryNadler needs to immediately start the process of subpoenaing Bill Barr and other DOJ officials to testify and provide documents.

The House uses their power of inherent contempt to jail anyone who refuses to appear or provide documents.
The House (@SpeakerPelosi ) has the power to jail violators for contempt. They either EXERCISE their power NOW or lose it forever.

Now ... GO!
@SpeakerPelosi PS - This is NOT the time to squabble about the pragmatics of arresting and jailing the AG. FIGURE IT OUT. These are desperate times.

Thirty hours ago news breaks that all four prosecutors in the Roger Stone case suddenly quit because Bill Barr interfered to give Stone sweetheart treatment on behalf of Trump.

Now imagine that THIS is what followed. 👇
All news networks immediately STOP covering the Dem Primaries of the 41st most populous and 2nd most white state in America.

Instead, they bring in every available legal expert to drill into the public's consciousness that the country is now in a rule-of-law crisis.
By 10:30pm all television stations cut to an emergency announcement from Speaker Pelosi.

She gravely states that Trump's and Barr's actions have severely damaged the rule of law and that House Dems will meet at 6am the following morning to decide on a course of action.

Can @SenBlumenthal be the first of at least 48 U.S. senators to do this?

What's stopping legal communities from doing the same thing? Shouldn't we have a "5000 federal prosecutors call on Barr to resign" headline by now?

How about other organizations?

Civil Rights organizations?

This whole filing is just one more way Trump has used the DOJ to protect those who don't want to testify against him in Congress.
The message is, "Don't testify against Trump. Lie if you have to. We will protect you in the end."
Fortunately, Amy Berman Jackson is not a Trump toady like Barr is. She'll do what she thinks is right in the end.

Can we talk about #POWER instead of "violence," please? #Violence is a broad label that gets thrown around in the #HongKongprotest context, and it's basically meaningless.
When people say they can't condone violence, what I hear them say is: "I condone powerful systems of #oppression and #institutionalviolence, and protesters taking a small bit of power back into their own hands makes me uncomfortable."
People who are uncomfortable with protesters fighting strong power with weak power need to examine their priorities.

Let's be clear here, this is what is going on with Barr.
1. As a matter of law, Barr cannot provide Congress with the grand jury information that Democrats just held him in contempt for not turning over to them.
2. Barr can, however, petition the courts to allow release, and the House Democrats have requested he do so. He refused, and this adds to their reasons for the contempt vote. Important to note, he is not required by law to accommodate their request to petition the court.
3. Democrats additionally feel his no-show for their hearing last week adds to their contempt charge. However, they had demanded, against normal order, that he be questioned by two prosecutors. Je did not agree but offered to teach an amicable arrangement.

NBC's Pete Williams, gold standard in #DOJ reporting, says #Rosenstein en route to White House, won't resign and will force them to fire him. As I am told, Vacancies Act only kicks in if he resigns.
Vacancies Act means if a senior official "dies, resigns, or is otherwise unable to perform the functions and duties of the office," then president can fill it w/someone already confirmed by Senate for a period of time w/o being reconfirmed. Being fired doesn't qualify as reason.
